Sofitel Ponte 16 Macau – ageing gracefully. My wife and I, both octogenarians, decided to have a fourth stay at Sofitel Ponte 16 to celebrate our 62nd wedding anniversary. We chose a Prestige Suite Club Millesime for our 13-night stay. All of the staff, superbly led by Amelia (Executive Manager), could not have been more professional, helpful and kind to us throughout our stay. When we arrived at our room a cake with an anniversary congratulations cake and other goodies had been laid out for us – very touching gesture. The staff in the dining room were superb – Winter, Ann and Katherine were especially patient with us, for which we are both extremely grateful. Margati (with the wonderful smile) cooked excellent eggs and crepes for breakfast. Ponte 16 is ageing gracefully. The few minor problems in the rooms were quickly and professionally resolved. A minor inconvenience is the lack of a shuttle bus that makes the return trip to the casino area around A$40. Our sadness at the closing of the Club Millasenne was shared equally by the staff. The exceptional staff and the hotels warm, ‘wraparound’ feeling engendered by Mr. Vincenz Rosa de Pauli, the exceptional General Manager, far outweighed the few drawbacks noted above. Would we stay at Ponte 16 again – most certainly!

I’ve stayed in many hotels in Macau, and while Sofitel Macau may not be the newest property in town, it continues to stand out because of its people and their heart-warming service. PROS: Our family stayed for 5 days, 4 nights. The hotel itself remains comfortable with their rooms. ROOM/FACILITIES: Room upkeep and cleanliness remain excellent. Facilities like the pool, spa and gym which we have tried during our stay are all well-maintained. LOCATION: The hotel is conveniently located and within walking distance to the city’s tourist spots like St Paul Ruins, Senado Square, parks, gardens and city shopping area. It may not be near Venetian and Cotai strip but taxis can be easily taken. On the itger hand, staying at Cotai strip hotels, it feels like I am in a mall and not relaxed at all. FOOD: Sofitel is conveniently located near restaurants. Breakfast and lunch in Mistral has wide selection and service is excellent with Michelle constantly checking on our needs. SERVICE: More importantly, the Sofitel brand’s culture of sincere hospitality and genuine care is still very much alive here. Rhyan and Sandy are amazingly excellent everyday, always giving all guests a warm welcome everyday. Kate makes sure our room is freshly arranged everyday. Michelle and Prex at the breakfast service giving a warm smile at breakfast. Claudia and Carol with fast check-in and check-out at the front desk. In a city filled with newer hotels, that personal touch is something I value far more than having the newest facility. Sincere service and attention to details make the stark difference. During this stay, I did encounter some issues with the air conditioning, which I understand can happen in an older facility. Unfortunately, the initial response from the engineering team did not fully resolve the problem, and I ended up transferring rooms. Of course, when traveling, there will always be some hits and misses, and what matters most is how a hotel responds when things don’t go as planned. This is where this hotel truly impressed me. Ms. Amelia, the manager, personally stepped in and made sure the situation was properly addressed. Her professionalism, concern, and commitment to guest satisfaction turned what could have been a frustrating experience into one that reminded me why Sofitel service matters so much to us loyal Accor clients. Thank you to Ms. Amelia and the team for making things right. I left feeling appreciated as a guest and would happily stay here again
