The Grand Wind really is grand! We stayed here as part of our group tour, upon entering you are greeted with large marble-esque pillars and a huge chandelier. The long curve of the hallway leading you to your room was nicely lit and styled. The bed was massive with a nice firm mattress, decent size bathroom with some nice toiletries (although it had bath foam with no bath) plenty of them as well. The air conditioning wasn’t very good and the fridge didn’t get cold, but other than that it was a good room. We had a decent view too. There is a nice bar downstairs with cakes and a decent selection of drinks, albeit with slow service. WiFi didn’t work very well but I have data service on my phone so it wasn’t a big deal. Despite the humidity of the Guilin area and the AC not working very well we still slept comfortably. Really well located with the river / lake, and park very close by and lots of shops around.

“Good location clean hotel ”

The rooms were clean and spacious and the location of the hotel was right opposite the lake which was beautifully lit up at night and was a short walk into the town via the bridge. We stayed as a family of five with three teenagers. The rooms were clean and spacious and the location of the hotel was right opposite the lake which was beautifully lit up at night and was a short walk into the town via the bridge. There are several bars and restaurants 100 metres to the right of the hotel as well. The outdoor pool was unique for a Chinese hotel as a majority are indoor and for lessons only. They could do with some beds near the pool to relax instead of just chairs. Overall a good family hotel.

“old style”

Quite old style hotel. Some furniture has to be fixed and modernized. Not many plugs in the hotel. complicated to find the right path to the breakfast room

Newly refurbished room, with a massive bed. Very old fashioned style decoration, with a velvet chaise longe. Only a shower in the bathroom when every other hotel we have stayed in had a bath. Newly refurbished room, with a massive bed. Very old fashioned style decoration, with a velvet chaise longe. Only a shower in the bathroom when every other hotel we have stayed in had a bath. We stayed here 2 nights as part of a tour. The fridge in the room was not great, it never really got too cold. Safe in the room, the air conditioning wasn’t great, we had to have the windows open, as it’s very humid. Breakfast was ok, we went down at 09.00 and things had run out and not replaced. The restaurant smelt damp and there were weird massive plush velvet chairs. The swimming pool is only open May-October which was a massive disappointment. The location is good, right in front of the lakes, so a lovely walk into the main area of town. I’d stay again.
