In a city as big as Guilin this hotel and location has as lot to offer. Food, including the smorgasbord, was really nice, fresh, with a vast choice for all tastes. Food could be ordered elsewhere if needed eg coffee bar. Location right on the lake: walk out the back and stroll around the gorgeous lake at all hours, at night with the pagodas lit up, stunning. Short distance by taxi to the caves that are mind blowing. Used this as a base before doing the trip on the Li River to Yangshuo. A totally mind blowing experience.

“A bit antiquated but comfortable in nov 2018”

I had room 9525 on the fifth floor, at the end of the corridor. The room overall was facing the rear, so it was quiet. There was no mini bar, which a four star hotel generally has. I had room 9525 on the fifth floor, at the end of the corridor. The room overall was facing the rear, so it was quiet. There was no mini bar, which a four star hotel generally has. No english stations on TV. No hand lotion. The shower was in bathtub, and showerhead in very awkward low position, and since no shower curtain, water ended up on floor. Breakfast had no cereal or orange juice and limited fruit & vegetables. No brewed or ground coffee. The room lighting was okay. The room had no central heat, so I requested an electric heater which made the temp comfortable. Overall i would return to the Ronghu of they take care of the above concerns.

My experience at the Ronghu Hotel, Guilin is different to recent reviewers. The lobby area is a nice enviroment and, depsite what others have said, there was always someone who spoke decent English at reception and I had no problems. Our room was on the 4th floor of the main building and was a decent size and clean. Though smoking was allowed (this is Chine, you just have to get used to it), the room did not smell of smoke at all. The amenities were fine, a safe in the room an there was free wi-fi in the lobby and restaurant and LAN internet in the room. The included breakfast was a bit disppointing, being mostly Chinese fare and not very inspiring but the hotel does cater for mostly Chinese tour groups, The hotel location is quite good in Guilin and most places are walkable or a short taxi ride away. There are some nearby restaurants. There is a spa in the hotel which we used for a foot massage and, though more expensive than on the street, was good quality and relaxing. Overall, a pretty decent place to stay though there isn't a gym or pool for exercise.
