This place was a total TRIP! Throughout the place they piped in Mexican Mariachi music in the corridors. I felt like I was on the San Antonio Riverwalk but the enormous bamboo growing throughout the atrium reminded me that yep... still in China! The decor was like Mexican Mayan style. They even had huge pillars carved like ancient Mayan ruins in the lobby with menacing looking Mayan gods carved in them. The ashtrays even had an image of a cactus combed into the sand! They had a HUGE swimming pool and a gigantic playground INSIDE a kiddie swimming pool for the kids. They had a shuttle to the beach (well sort of... it let you off by another hotel closer to the beach and then you had to cross the road by yourself and walk to the Yalong Bay Beach). The restaurant in the lobby was called Grandpa's Coconut Chicken and was a Hot Pot restaurant where they added the coconut water from a freshly cut coconut into the hot pot with boney chicken bits! The place was crawling with vacationing Russians! Most of the signage was bilingual in Russian and English! My wife is from Kazakhstan so is fluent in Russia so it was pretty convenient! On New Year's Eve, the Russians had a HUGE party in the lobby and got totally wasted! We were checking out really early and they were stumbling around obviously heavily intoxicated. The breakfast and dinner buffet was pretty crazy. It was Chinese food. No Mexican food whatsoever. However they had a soda fountain which is pretty rare in China! Free refills, baby! All the coke you can drink! It was a bizarre place and sorta run down. The thatched roof on the tiki bar by the pool was nonexistent compared to older photos you see on promotional websites. They need to fix the place up a bit but overall it was a totally wacky trip!

Stayed in Cactus during 1 week in April 2018. The hotel is old, but good enough for a short vacation. The territory is neither small, nor big. It's medium. But beautiful and picturesque! The atmosphere is nice, quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed our stay as a family. Didn't have any problems with the room. We booked a garden-view room with a king-size bed. The bed was big enough for the whole family (2 adults and 2 little kids). The view was pleasant enough (to the garden and swimming pools). Didn't hear any noise while staying inside. The AC was good. The only disappointment is the fridge. It's very old and littlte. And smells bad... The rest is ok. The food was ok, too, But could be better.... We liked the dinners the most. They are the best in comparison with breakfasts and lunches. They even serve nice desserts and several types of ice-cream for dinner! The breakfast and lunch are pretty much the same every day. It was sometimes difficult to satify the food habits of our kids, because many dishes are spicy. For me and my husband it was ok, but for kids not... We had to try everthing first before giving it to our kids))) I liked the beach and the sea most of all!!! They are great! And this is why we came to this hotel. If you are looking for some fun, it's not the place for you. It's more for senior people, families with kids or just people who enjoy relaxing and quiet surrounding.

Good location and nice swimming pool. Very poor breakfast with same food every day. Rooms are very dirty and small with no view, fridge is not working and stinking. Very small bathroom. The biggest problem is staff! Reception team is so unpleasant and unfriendly. Had a big troubles with communication, no one speaks English or Russian (more than 50% of guests are Russians), so it was very hard to explain and ask something, same troubles we had with concierge. Housekeeping staff doing their job so bad, no standards. Overall big and beautiful hotel, but they need to work out and train their teams better!
