### **Marriott Resort Sanya Yalong Bay** **Stay date:** July 2025 **Purpose of visit:** Vacation #### **General Impressions** - The hotel’s appearance is clean, stylish, and full of atmosphere. - The reception staff speaks English and is polite and patient. - Check-in took **40 minutes** (a bit slow). - A **deposit of $100 or 1,500 CNY per room** is required in cash (I didn’t ask about card payments). - If you plan to pay by card during your stay, **it’s better to link the deposit to your room key**—otherwise, you’ll need to carry cash. - The hotel grounds are **well-maintained** and pleasing to the eye. - A **complimentary photo session voucher** is provided per room during the stay. - Facilities include a **pool, spa, and gym**. #### **Room** - **Deluxe room (46 sqm) with a scenic view** (facing away from the sea but offering **stunning sunsets**). - **Daily housekeeping** is thorough and efficient. - The **bed is very comfortable**. - Amenities include: - Air conditioning, **Wi-Fi**, TV, safe, minibar - Robes, slippers, toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel) - **Three towels per guest**, a beach bag, beach slippers - Hairdryer, iron, ironing board, **14 hangers** - Bath salts, shower, and a **bathtub with a TV** (can be closed with sliding doors—loved this feature!). - **Soundproofing was perfect**—no noise issues. #### **Dining** - **Breakfast buffet (6:30–11:00 AM)**: Varied but somewhat repetitive. - **Highlight: The soups!** - Usually **4 types**: beef, chicken, spicy chicken, and vegetable stew (or even borscht!). - I don’t usually eat soup for breakfast, but after trying them, **I couldn’t resist having them daily**. - **Rich broths and bold flavors**—absolutely delicious! #### **Staff** - **Polite and helpful**. - Announcements are in Chinese only, but staff are happy to assist with any questions or issues. #### **Location** - Situated in **Yalong Bay**. - Nearby: A **supermarket**, evening market, and neighboring **Sheraton & Ritz-Carlton hotels**. #### **Beach** - **Well-equipped with sunbeds** (thick mattresses included). - **Two large towels provided per room**. - **Always enough space**—no fighting for spots. #### **Value for Money** - The **price reflects the quality** of service and amenities. - **No hidden charges**. #### **Cons** - The **minibar door is extremely stiff**—you could break a nail trying to open it! #### **Final Verdict & Recommendations** - **Great for families, couples, and business travelers**. - **I’d happily return!** - **Overall rating: 5/5**

This is by far the best resort on Yalong Bay with a fantastic beach, 3 meal , Japanese & Chinese Restaurants. The breakfast buffet is amazing offering a full range o Asian & Western items. The staff are well trained & offer friendly and helpful service at all touch points. Rooms are spacious, fresh & guest/family friendly with many having spectacular seaviews. There are also local restaurants within the property just as short walk away. The spa & fitness plus kids club make this a terrific family destination.

“Almost a perfect stay!”

Upon arrival at the Marriott Yalong Bay Resort and Spa, there was a large line and it seemed chaotic. I waited my turn and the lady at the front desk named Echo begin the process of checking us in. She did not have great English language control and I understand that especially since we are not in America but China. Thankfully, I know enough Chinese to be checked into a hotel and I had a few questions. She was very brisk and later her speech and demeanor turned very rude. She called someone to help her and she was saying in Chinese, “This outsider is asking me questions.” I told her she did not need to call me an outsider and I was still very calm. She continued her harsh treatment and then I started taking pics and videos for proof of her demeanor. We finally checked in and I thought the stay would not be pleasant because of the tone was set. When we got to our room, a manager called our room and asked if everything was okay because they noticed a confrontation. I told them to check their CCTV camera footage of our front desk check in. She did and apologized and some apologetic snacks and drinks were sent to our room which was a nice touch. However, as bad as that was, from then on, everything was perfect. The food was amazing! The pools are spectacular! The rest of the staff were so helpful and nice. Parents, if you want a quality program for your kids, then this is the resort for you as the kid’s club was the best we’ve been to. I am a teacher and I know it could be a lot better, but still it was by far the best we’ve experienced. The private beach is phenomenal and we just love our stay. We’ve been to other parts of the world since our stay here, and we miss this place as other places just do not measure up. If not for Echo and the check-in process, this would be a 6 star review out of 5.

The property itself is kinda rundown but all staffs are very attentive and helpful. We stayed here for two night for our family vacation it was not bad. Highlight and shoutout for the stay: Bonvoy members check in with friendly Johnny Wang; Staffs are very helpful to arrange mom’s birthday celebration with cake, fruit and bottle of wine upon our request; Ella from Housekeeping checked on us for any additional need; Yalong bay Blue the rum drink hit the spot Things could improve: Front door Bell service was nowhere to be found when we first arrived; Ping pong and billiard table were located in o it side the grand ball room. We were told to stay quiet while playing since there is company meeting inside. Pool water has this heavily chemical ( chlorine) smell. It’s way too strong lol and pool music choice sucks
