From room service, superb food (best buffet), cleanliness, tasteful decor, fitness center providing shoewear, free transport to the airport, complimentary snacks each morning, hand-written notes of welcome, and so much more, this hotel has it all. But the best part is the staff and the people who run this place. They are extremely respectful and kind. They will do everything that is possible to help you. Shame on the people who abuse such excellent customer service. I hope this hotel does extremely well and that the staff are well taken care of. My wife and I loved our stay here and we will return.

Stayed here on August 29 2020. Staff bent over backwards to make us feel welcome from the start; free transfers from and to the station; free plate of foods we’d selected whilst checking in - delivered 40 mins after arrival; menu of items we might want to borrow for the room; free cleaning of one shirt (or equivalent) a day; leaving gifts; etc. Generally excellent service. In addition, the rooms were themed and full of character. Ours was a Tang Dynasty room, but you could choose from several themes. Breakfast was eclectic but had something for everyone. All in all an excellent hotel, which I’d thoroughly recommend.

If (rather - when) i visit China again - definitely I will do my best to visit Luoyang - mainly - just to stay in this hotel and have some relax. “Smoking room”

This hotel was downgraded by me because I was given a smoking room with a very strong odour of smoke, despite the tour guide having requested a non-smoking room. The tour guide inquired about this, and was told that the hotel was fully booked and had only a very limited number of non-smoking rooms, so no changes could be made. I think your experience in the hotel will be affected by what type of room you get, and which direction is faces. Looking at the pictures, some of the rooms look quite beautiful. Mine was interesting, but dark and very 'over-the-top' in terms of its decor. Each floor has a different architectural theme for its rooms, and mine was Ming Chinese, which apparently means very red and very dark. And - rose petals in the toilet bowl??? That's definitely over-the-top. Also, the room faced onto a shopping area with a bar that played loud music on its outdoor seating area well into the night, which was not conducive to sleep. Don't expect much English from front-desk staff, as English-language fluency from them was poor to non-existent. (This isn't totally surprising, as Luoyang is not on the main tourist trail for most Western tourists. In two days visiting several sites in Luoyang, I heard only a few tourists, among thousands of tourists, speaking languages other than Mandarin or Cantonese). The staff, however, do try to be helpful and are otherwise very competent. The hotel is far away from most tourist attractions in Luoyang (but, to be fair, the Luoyang tourist attractions are very spread out). It is about 5 km or an hour walk west of the 'old town', and a bus or taxi would be required to get to any other of the major tourist attractions. Once the subway is finished (under construction in April 2019) the hotel site should become quite good for public transit use, as the two main lines running north-south and east-west will meet only about a block from the hotel. On the positive side, there are many useful shops in the nearby malls and shopping streets. Also, the breakfast area on the top floor of the hotel is bright, has nice views of the city and the breakfast food items were quite good. The coffee, however, was horrible. The high ranking of this hotel puzzles me. Had I had a non-smoking room in, perhaps, the 'Scandinavian' floor, with a room facing in one of the other three directions, I would have given this hotel four stars. With my particular room, however, this rated only three stars and was the worst of the hotels I stayed at in four weeks in China (the others were all almost uniformly excellent). If I were to visit Luoyang again, I would likely try out one of the other top-ranked hotels in preference to this hotel.
