“Wondeful modern hotel”

I booked the Hualuxe Hotel Nanjing Yangtze as it was adjacent to the venue for the 2025 World Indoor Athletics Championships. The hotel exceeded my expectations. The rooms were spacious and clean (also I was upgraded to a suite). The curtains provided great light block out and the curtain and roman blind were electronically operated. The bed was very comfortable (not the usual hard Chinese mattress) and there was a pillow menu if you wanted something different than the standard. Ample bottle water was provided in the room and replenished daily. The bathroom had a walk-in shower and a bath. The toilet was fitted with a bidet attachment and you could have a heated seat. The suite also had a separate toilet for visitors to the suite. The all day restaurant provided an excellent breakfast buffet with Chinese and Western options - and the coffee lovers seemed to enjoy the barista coffee. The lobby coffee shop was also very attentive and had some wonderful sweet treats to go with your tea or coffee. The evening buffet with a wide range of seafood, carvery and noodle options and a fantastic selection of desserts, with included softdrink or beer was excellent value to 208 yuan. The wait staff were very attentive and helpful (especially the delightful Ava). There is also a sister Hotel - Even Hotel, located next door and you can also visit their restaurant which offers some western options as well as Chinese and other Asian dishes. As my flight did not leave until the evening I was happily provided with an extra late checkout, that was really appreciated. The only minor issue I had was the distance of the hotel from the nearest metro - it was about a 40 minute walk. I would recommend downloading the AliPay app and linking it to your Visa or MC Credit Card - this will allow you cashless payments everywhere in China, it also integrates with DiDi rideshare that allows you to request a journey in English (the driver gets the request in Chinese) and the geolocator means the driver can find you, and payment is made via Alipay. In Nanjing you can also use Alipay to get a digital metro card which allows you to tap in and out of the station (the metro is very cheap). Using Didi to get to and from the metro station overcame this minor issue (the drive was under 5 minutes) and then I was able to travel easily and cheaply for sightseeing and shopping.
