I stayed at the Friendly Guest House for three nights on business. The hotel is spread out to many houses, typical of government owned and operated guest houses. I stayed at House 8, which according to the photos on the wall, had hosted many senior Chinese government officials, including former president Hu Jingtao. The hotel property is a park by itself with a good size lake and neatly groomed gardens and lawns. The natural surrounding of the hotel cannot be matched by regular five-star hotels. The houses were also bulit with fine materials and quality workmanship, although the design is somewhat unimaginative. The service is to be desired. The bed was indeed made every day but barely, the bed sheet was crumpled. This, I guess, could be attributed to its government owned and operated nature. Breakfast was also very un-international. For the sake of the park surrounding, I would still recommend the hotel. However, it's better you have your own private transportation if you should stay here. It's at least a five-minute walk to the city street to get a cab.

“Very Comfortable hotel with helpful staff.”

Very comfortable hotel, with large rooms and helpful staff. The hotel is located next to Beiling Park and close to a metro station.
