We stayed here for two nights while visiting the Terra-cotta warriors. It really isn’t close to anything except a shopping mall which is attached to the hotel and did have a good number of restaurants available to choose from. The lobby is on the 3rd floor which was a bit odd since everyone enters on the ground floor. The rooms were very nice with every feature most people would need (mini refrigerator, iron, work table, plentiful closet space, and even face cloths in the bathroom). Curiously, there was no dresser space to store clothes. The bathroom though was large with a spacious shower. We ate breakfast each morning on the 5th floor at their buffet. We arrived the first day at 6:30 when breakfast opened, and the so-called hot water dispenser was barely warm and also the pre-made black tea urn was also barely above room temperature. We mentioned this to the hostess, and she summoned a chef to look at it, but he didn’t do anything to warm it up. The following day, we made sure to arrive later (7:30), and the tea and hot water were still barely warm even then. Other than the beverage temperature issue, the buffet had a large selection of items with several that changed daily.

“Relaxed Stay at the Courtyard”

We chose this hotel as it looked very nice and had a decent location. It is about a 10 minute walk to the closest metro Shitushuguan. The staff are very nice and attentive at times. The rooms are so nice and well appointed but the shower pressure is too strong and unadjustable. The breakfast is really good with many Chinese and Western options all prepared fresh. The hotel is connected to a large and nice bookstore that has many little shops and cafes throughout. There are also a few cheap food stalls nearby. The staff at the hotel could be off-putting at times. I had the do not disturb light on while I was working in the room at 10:30 am and housekeeping came, knocked on the door, rang the doorbell, tried to enter the room and slipped a note under the door that said something along the lines that they respect our privacy but have the right to enter our room for security, inspection and housekeeping and to call the front desk when I am ready. I had to double check and the red do not disturb light was definitely on. The doorman also helped us for about a minute and asked us to mention his name in a review if we were happy with his service - it was good service but does not merit a mention. We along with our friends all had issues with payment at the front desk. For our incovenience they offered fruit plates and complimentary mini bar use but our single friend received a large fruit plate while we (a couple) were given 1 plum, 6 langon and 2 small cookies. These oddities aside I would still stay here if I was in Xi'an again.

Hotel rooms are nice but quite small, even the more expensive ones. Food assortment is boring after 2 times, as it is always the same offer. Missing variations. Cold food is warm and hot food is cold. They cannot manage a proper temperature for the food. No problem, there are many restaurants in the city. Location is good. Only 1 km to subway and a bus service 717 and change to 915 if you want to visit the terra cotta Armee.
