Good hotel in downtown Xi’an right next door is a subway station. It has a swimming pool which is also nice in the hot weather. The room is good, beds are nice. Bathroom is ok, don’t care much for showering will standing in a bathtub, which a shower curtain. Breakfast selection is great. They even have a live cook for a good omelet.

We stayed at the Xi'an Grand Dynasty Culture Hotel for two nights as part of a guided tour. The hotel is situated in a historical area of Xi'an, offering a touch of local charm. Despite being built decades ago, it still maintains its status as an international star-class hotel. There are plenty of restaurants and street food options within walking distance, and the buffet breakfast at the hotel was decent. However, one negative experience stood out— the reception staff were rude and unfriendly, which was quite disappointing. This aspect could be a red flag for future guests.

“Next to the Muslim Quater”

Large hotel. 2 nights in room 736. Spacious room, only one side table next to the bed. Shower in the bath, no hand shower. The streets behind the hotel is the Muslim Quarter, shops, food stalls etc. all open and busy in the evening and night. Very interesting.

“Average”

Average hotel in need of a facelift. Rooms were ok but dated. Restaurant was not so good, kept running out of some foods and cutlery. Could not cope with an influx of people all eating at a similar time.

While the lobby was certainly impressive, our room certainly was not. The positives were the room had robes and slippers. The negatives were: the room looked outdated, the tv remote did not work, there was a strange smell coming from the hvac, A/C did not work (though the explanation was that it was too early in the year to legally activate A/C for the entire city), lastly the sliding bathroom door was obviously broken and required a lot of effort to force open and closed (in fact a door handle fell off while I was trying to open the door). We reported the issue but it was never addressed. I honestly don’t know how this place gets a 4 rating - I would compare the quality to a Holiday Inn. This was booked as part of a tour package and while the hotel is within the walled city, I would highly recommend anyone visiting Xi’an to select a hotel closer to the Bell Tower if they want to be less than 40 minute walking distance to center of all the action.
