I hope can help fellow travellers make an informed decision. BTW, this is my own opinion. You may or may not agree, that's OK. Location: Almost 40min drive away from the train station [I think we came from Xian N station]. Bear in mind, train stations here are massive. North station can be 30min drive from say the South one, unlike in the UK. We had a F1 taxi driver, who drove insanely fast and it was scary [didnt know how to tell him to slow down]. Maybe with a sensible driver, 1 hour drive would be a sensible guess. Walking to the city centre [with shopping mall and shops] took us around 10min. Easy, comfortable walk, flat surface. Hotel ground: Wow!!! Beautiful gardens, Tang dynasty style garden, it was advertised. Ducks swam in the pond, peacock appeared early in yhe morning. Didnt dare get too close, worry it might attack me, but I think it is friendly. Saw a little girl walked near it, it was OK. Beautiful flowers. Spoilt by some stooopid ppl who decided to smoke. Check-in: swift. A bit of language barrier but not a big issue. Receptionist lady Amy used her app, I used my google translate [my own data, with access to all my usual app like FB, IG, Gmail, Whatsapp, etc]. Bell boy: eager to help me with our bag, but I always carry it myself [a camera in my bag]. Room: We got ourselves a suite, actually. OK the outside view was not the best but we dont care. The interior was simply beautifiul, very "chinese-style". Mini bar is there, but dont consume the drinks [they are always priced too high]. We just bought some from shops and stick them into the fridge. Breakfast: wow!!! again. Go try it out yourself. More chinese than western ones [which I prefer... tired of cereal and toast]. Dinner: We had it twice, It was called Cai Fung.... [forgot the full name]. Very nice food. Service was excellent. The fact that we had ihg F&B vouchers made it even better. USD 20 was 137.16 CNY [on 24th April 2026]. Toilet, bathroom: Luxurious. Dyson hairdryer for the Mrs. Yours sincerely unfortunately don't have much left on the scalp to be blown. Good quality amenities. Laundry: t-shirt was 15CNY [around £1.70]. We washed a few items [normal, not express cos not willing to pay more] Bed sheets, duvet, pillows: comfortable. Noise level: Didnt hear any. Gym: on level 1 [ie Ground floor in the UK], then go down staircase. So I guess it is one level down. Very basic. Swimiming pool was closed, dunno why. Easy to call taxi?Yes, staff will help but we didnt need to, as it was walking distance to places. inside our room: fridge, tea, coffee, iron, ironing board, walk in wardrobe, safe deposit box [the usual sized one], writing desk, sofa, TV in the living room, TV in the bedroom [we had 2 TV]. Black out curtains? Yes. Check-out; swift. Major credit cards accepted. Alipay & Wechat Pay too, of course. ihg points rewarded already.

Excellent. We had a great stay. Hotel is housed in a traditional and culturally significant building with history. Our suite was immaculate and clean. All necessary amenities and more, like the pretty Chinese tea set to make tea, coat stand in the walk in closet and pillows menu. Front office and staff were great. Location was also superb. Under 5 minutes’ walk to the Big Goose Pagoda and the water fountain light show (evening), 10 minutes’ walk to Furong Garden. Breakfast spread was huge, quite a few live stations making local street food so even though we didn’t have chance to eat much outside we could at least taste many different local delights all at one go at breakfast. Definitely will come back if there’s a chance.

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Xi’an. It was very handy for the city centre. We were able to walk to the city walls, pagoda and the bell tower from the hotel which was super handy. It was around a 1 hour drive to the Terra Cotta Warriors but this was very straightforward - we arranged a car through the hotel the night before. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The layout of the hotel felt a bit odd - we took a wrong turn and ended up in some conference rooms. Also the only area we actually managed to find for drinks of an evening was in the lobby lounge & even though there was a server there they didn’t seem super well catered to serve drinks because it took a long time to get a beer. We really liked our room - we had a garden view but the trees were in full bloom so we could not really see anything but leaves. We really didn’t mind this but some people might be annoyed if they had paid for a view of the actual garden. The food was ok. Breakfast was alright but not great - I can’t put my finger on why but I think it was the quality of the food rather than the selection. We also had a room service burger one night - again it was nice but not delicious. Very little English was spoken - understandable in another country but we did not experience this in other hotels we stayed in throughout China and I think if you are marketing yourself as a hotel destination for international tourists you probably could do with at least a couple of staff who speak English. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would stay again. Just a few things slightly lacking that means it wasn’t quite 5*.

This hotel is really a very nice hotel located near the great big pagoda. Breakfast was very filling whether you wanted an American style breakfast or a Chinese one. Generally the service was great . However I had a major problem with the air con unit in my original room. The room wasn’t that cold.… more

This hotel is really a very nice hotel located near the great big pagoda. Breakfast was very filling whether you wanted an American style breakfast or a Chinese one. Generally the service was great . However I had a major problem with the air con unit in my original room. The room wasn’t that cold. When I spoke to the late afternoon/evening manager he flat out lied to me and said that under Chinese law it couldn’t go below 22 Celsius which was a lie cause my hotel in Beijing got down to 18. This woman Momo was excellent in helping me move into another room 6101. This had 2 ac units and was slightly better. I spoke to the morning manager who had the handy man come in and he got everything down to 19. I didn’t notice the problem at first but someone had smoked in this non smoking room. He offered me another room but I declined since I really couldn’t smell it when I was in the room but I suggest that this room be thoroughly cleaned. That’s the reason I deducted 1/2 point.
