This hotel not only renders excellent customer service, but the location is also very convenient for travellers. It is situated near a subway station, a sprawling shopping mall and has its own taxi pickup / drop off zones. Getting to the hotel is easy enough, if you wish to save money on taxi, as Tianfu International Airport is quite far from the city centre, you may opt to take the subway instead. Upon arriving at Tianfu International Airport, make your way to the subway station by following the signs. From Tianfu International Airport, take the subway to South Railway Station on Line 18. At South Railway Station, transfer to Line 1 and take the subway to Sichuan Gymnasium. Exit from the subway station via Exit F. Cross the road over to Age Digital Building and turn right. Ascott Raffles City Chengdu is the building next to it. You can either walk around the building to the main entrance lobby, or you may enter the shopping mall and follow the signs to the hotel. The check-in process was simple and quickly done. All I had to do was produce my passport, pay the RMB 515 (approx. USD $100) deposit, take the keycard, and done. One thing to note however, although it appears that the front desk staff speak English, I very much doubt their ability to understand it. In my booking, I asked for a high floor, and also repeated my request to her during the check-in process, she still put me on the 11th floor out of the 38 floors. When I enquired about this, she didn’t appear to understand what I said and just smiled and kept nodding her head. Also, the king-sized bed as advertised isn’t really a king-sized bed, but rather 2 single beds pushed together and then fitted with a king-sized bedsheet. I almost fell into the gap in the middle on the first night. I tried to sleep diagonally, but that didn’t work either, I could feel the gap running across my back. In the end, I just slept on the one single bed. Service wise, the staff are very well trained. The housekeeping staff are tip top; I came back to my room every evening to find my room spotless. The laundry service is also excellent; my dirty laundry was collected at 1000hrs and returned at 1800hrs on the same day. All the clothes were cleaned, ironed, and individually wrapped in plastic, even my socks and boxer shorts! The dining room staff at breakfast are constantly attending to your needs. Dirty plates and cutlery are removed as soon as you are done and replaced with clean ones. The hotel has many facilities in-house. There is a heated swimming pool, a gym, a yoga room, meeting rooms, etc. There is also an outdoor park on the 3rd floor where the locals who live nearby bring their cute little pet dogs to run around and socialise during the weekends. Quite a treat for both kids and adults. If your room doesn’t come with breakfast included, go for the upgrade, the spread makes the cost worth it. The breakfast is served international buffet style, with food and beverages catering to both Chinese and Western tastes. If the breakfast upgrade is too costly, there are cheaper alternatives available. The shopping mall has a Mcdonald’s and Starbucks located at level Basement 2, which opens at 0800hrs. There are also some cafes and snack shops offering dumplings or soy products if you prefer.

Travelled as a family of 5. When we arrived, renovation was being done to replace the carpet along the corridor. We had to request for room change the next day as there were quite abit of noise and drilling which made it difficult to nap in the afternoon for the kids. There were also nails lying around on the ground which was abit unsafe going in and out of the room. Thus we decided to request for another room and were assigned another room in another tower. Both the room is well stocked. You could also request for a high chair for the toddler to eat at the dining table and step stool to reach the sink. And the aircon at the master bed room takes quite awhile to cool down the room even after we drawn the curtain and had the thermostat set at the lowest temperature. There’s live noodle and egg station at the breakfast. But dining area is quite small and can get a little crowded on the weekends. Servers were slow in response to requests to clear plates and seem a little unwilling. The hotel has a great playroom which is well kept and clean. It included a ball pit with slide, tv, Lego area. The hotel is directly linked to the mall with a variety of restaurants.
