We stayed one night in Chengdu after visiting the giant panda base. Room was new and comfortable. There were plenty of restaurants close by and a 7-Eleven type of store too. Few building away (if you walk to your right as you come out) there is a hot-pot restaurant with outdoor seating. Many more restaurants on the left side too. The breakfast was good and had dumplings 🙂 Panda base and the domestic airport is less than one-hour from the hotel.

Very modern hotel with good size bedroom and good bathroom facilities. Internet worked very well and bed very comfortable. Very modern hotel with good size bedroom and good bathroom facilities. Internet worked very well and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was very ordinary but I have to say I booked the wrong hotel and this one was in a way outplace which would probably and not be frequented by Westerners - hence the non-Western breakfast. However check-in was very good and quick and the staff were very attentive and efficient at the job. Only stayed one night and I think the cost was about A$60 so cannot really complain. Would stay there again if I found myself in that area but it was so far out I would have to be doing business in that particular location. Apart from that very nicely put together hotel, good staff, good bedroom and bathroom and Internet was good.

For a Holiday Inn Express, facilities are up to the standards. Except for the very essentials, like the internet. WiFi is a joke.you get full access but the whole network is so slow that it literally takes 4 mins to open simple websites like baidu or Bing. Called the front desk but there’s nothing they can do. Breakfast is good but lots of containers were left for a long time without replenishing. I was promised fruits and welcome amenities upon checkin but that didn’t happen until the next morning when I visited the front desk asking about it, only to find the team member busy looking at her cell phone while I tried to talk to her. Other than these tiny issues the overall stay was satisfactory. Staff needs to be motivated to achieve higher standards. Obviously the managerial skills of IHG has been deteriorating for vast development in Greater China. when staying at HIE, guests look for value, without which they would turn to Home Inns for more affordable options. Looking forward to improvements from a cheap hotel to a value hotel.
