Wanda Vista is a truly beautiful hotel. The lobby is breathtaking and the decor is really nice. Some reviewers have noted that they think the decor needs to be updated. I have to disagree. The decor is modern Chinese decor and befitting of the destination! My father and I stayed here for 3 nights. We had executive room, executive lounge access and enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning during our stay. The executive lounge is one of the best we have ever been to, with more than ample food options and a huge array of beverages. The view on the 22nd floor (the executive lounge) is also spectacular at night. The buffet breakfast is lovely and had items that my father and I like to eat in the morning. The breakfast does cater more to the hotel’s Chinese customers but we were happy with our options. On the first night we smelt smoke in our room despite booking a non-smoking room. We told one of the staff members, Jack Chai, in the morning. He was extremely accomodating and offered to change our room and even offered to upgrade our room when we feared the next room would smell similarly. We refused the offer of the suite and waited until the checkout time of that day to inspect a similar room to ours. The room wasn’t an executive room but we were much happier as it didn’t have any smell of smoke. From then on in our stay at Wanda Vista was wonderful! On our last night I needed to see a doctor and the staff were incredibly helpful and obliging despite the significant language barrier. We cannot thank Caroline He enough for her efforts to help us. She was kind and patient and came to our room with an English speaking doctor on her personal phone. We were shocked when she refused the small tip we offered to thank her for everything... She is a special employee and we hope the company rewards her for her efforts. The staff at Wanda Vista are fabulous! The company should be extremely proud of them all, particularly Jack Chai and Caroline He. Jack was so friendly and helpful and made our stay at Wanda Vista great!

My first impression when I walked into the reception area of the Wanda Vista hotel was Wow! It’s vast splendour and eye catching wall to wall tableau (in actual jade) is stunning. Also on entering my room I was very pleased with the decor and furnishings, it immediately had the feeling of class and quality. The large bed was so comfortable and coupled with high quality bed linen made for a most comfortable nights sleep. All the details have been well thought out and I was very happy with my room and the way it was serviced daily. If by any chance there is something you need or have a special request then the hotel manager Mr Robert Williams will do his best to make it possible. This kind man made our stay at the Wanda Vista an absolute pleasure and took special attention to what he was hearing from us all and went to great lengths where possible to meet our needs. I have stayed in many lovely hotels while touring China but Mr Williams personal touch definitely gives The Wanda Vista hotel the edge. The huge dining area is splendid and at breakfast they cater for all tastes. The food was of good quality and the staff are more than happy to help in any way they can. In the evening they do a buffet dinner which specialises in seafood which is so good that it attracts business from beyond the hotel. There is also a good sized swimming pool and gym. You are close to lots of small restaurants and there is a very impressive shopping mall which houses a supermarket and an imax cinema. So I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kunming and as I said earlier the hotel manager gives it that personal touch. I have observed him working with his staff on more than one occasion and he seems to have a very good rap-pour with them and they seem pleased to help, and like himself be of good service.

Such a gorgeous hotel, starting with the decor of the lobby. You cannot fault the hotel at all, the rooms are stunning, there is a great gym and swimming pool, the breakfast buffet has everything you could want and the evening buffet is out of this world! The best food I have had in China. However, it is the service that makes it so special, the staff are all lovely and welcoming and the Hotel Manager Robert goes above and beyond in all cases! So thankful for having such great service, will definitely be remembered! Thankyou!

The Wanda Vista in Kumming is quite simply a brilliant hotel. On arrival, the ambiance of the public areas oozes opulence and sophistication. You are at once made to feel completely welcome and at ease by the wonderfully friendly staff who take the time to make sure that all your needs are met. The opulence continued in my room. Incredibly spacious and wonderfully well-appointed with every necessity having been thought of. The enormous bed was extraordinarily comfortable with top quality bed linen making for a wonderful nights sleep. My room was exceptionally clean and always well serviced - a theme that runs throughout this hotel. Breakfast offers an amazing array of choice ranging from western to more local fare, all brilliantly executed. I dined one evening at the hotel restaurant which provides what can only be described as a lavish buffet, catering for all different tastes, highly recommended. Special mention must be made of the incredible general manager Robert, who went completely out of his way to make sure that our stay was totally memorable going well beyond the call of duty. He and his staff are totally focused on providing a level of comfort and customer service that other hotels can only hope to emulate.
