The Conrad has an excellent location in the heart of Hangzhou’s CBD. It is very close to the Jiangjin Rd Metro. Use exit B, but don’t look for it on Xinye Road, which I did. Turn right into Dangui Street off Fuchun Road and the Conrad is 50 metres down. (See photo) I received a room with a river view. Big room, and excellent facilities. We missed Executive Lounge Happy Hour by two minutes and it was closed. The Li An Chinese Restaurant on Level 50 was open, but they don’t really have a bar up there. A shame because the views are awesome. Breakfast was fine. I went for a walk the next morning in plaza diagonally opposite the Conrad which has the Convention Centre and Grand Theatre in it. Worth doing. 5 star hotel, just lacking a cool bar befitting its location.

“Not worth the $....4 star only”

Almost 5 star but definitely not worth $200-250+ USD/night we paid through Amex FHR. Spend that credit elsewhere…it was just not worth it here. Almost 5 star but definitely not worth $200-250+ USD/night we paid through Amex FHR. Spend that credit elsewhere…it was just not worth it here. The room was nice, the breakfast was average, and you can only spend the F&B credit in 1 restaurant and though the food was presented nicely, the flavors fell flat and it was 6/10. For the $$ though, I would rate the food 4/10 compared to all the delicious and cheaper foods we have had around China. To elaborate a bit more: -Gym was weak, no staff, bottle waters, there were just a few towels. -Breakfast had variety but was not at the level of a 5 star hotel. Many of the female servers at breakfast were excellent - others including some in suits were not. We had just left the Ritz Nanjing where the staff literally drop what they are doing to greet you and ask if you need anything. Here they are too busy….yet Conrad is supposed to be 5 star? -We were supposed to get a room on a high floor and ended up with a room on the 2nd lowest floor right outside the elevator. Because we were not paying that much $$$ to hear an elevator chime all night, my wife is Chinese and went to the front desk and asked to be moved but was told the hotel was fully booked and we could only move if we paid extra for a suite. Once I heard this I immediately called and asked for the manager in English - to the hotel’s credit the guest relations person called me and was very nice and they did switch our rooms. Wasn’t worth the frustration though when paying this money. The only good thing about this property other than the location (subway is short walk away) was Jared at the front desk - he was very helpful. Jon at the restaurant was great and provided excellent service and remembered us at breakfast the next day. And the uncle who turned down our room at night was also great…we had just checked in and told him we didn’t need turn down but he insisted and left us feeling well taken care of.
