This is a very cozy little inn that we found very comfortable; we felt very much at home for the week we were in Hangzhou. Our standard King room was quite spacious, with small refrigerator and hot water pot with green tea and powdered coffee. The bathroom is actually part of the sleeping room, no separation, so no real privacy, but if that doesn't bother you go for it. The bed was firm but quite comfy. As others have said, it is on an alley, so is a bit difficult to find the first time, but also because it is on an alley, it is very quiet....we couldn't ever hear the car horns that are such a constant in cities in China. And although the hotel is only one alley off of the very touristy Hefang St, we never heard noise from that busy site either. Closest subway stop is several long blocks away. There is a large hill right behind the Inn that has nice walking paths that can get you to the very top of the hill (paths start at nearby Wushan Square). All of the rooms are up at least one flight of stairs (some up two flights) and there are no elevators. The staff do not speak english, but are very friendly and they do use translator apps on their phones, so we were able to communicate our hotel needs just fine. (We had engaged an english speaking guide so relied on him for all else.) The maid service on the weekend was minimal (basically just remade the bed, no fresh towels or dishes) but during the week was fine. The 7:30 - 9:30 breakfast is not a western breakfast, but always included a boiled egg, sometimes toast, always rice gruel and steamed yams. Note that here is a hostel a few doors away where you can get a western breakfast if you want that. There is also a decent small restaurant only a few doors away. The Inn location is convenient to West Lake (15 minute walk away), and there were almost always taxis right nearby next to Wushan Square when we needed them.

The standard king room was very spacious, comfortable and well furnished with lots of space to unpack, bar fridge, etc. The bathroom is modern & quite stylish. Good WiFi. It had the potential to be one of the nicer rooms we stayed in, but dirty walls & a dirty carpet brought it down a notch. And why oh why would anyone think an open-plan bathroom is a good idea?! Good location – quiet, but near the restaurant street & 10-15min walk to the lake. Note the inn is in a pedestrian area so a taxi will drop you by the Drum Tower from where it’s a 2 min walk. Breakfast is included in the room price, and while a free breakfast is always appreciated, the Western options were very limited = Boiled egg, toast & jam, orange slices & coffee. That’s it. It is very much an inn, wedged down a little alley (so no false advertising there), not a full-service hotel. The staff do not speak English & don't provide a tourist map of the lake, etc. – all of which is fine, but just be prepared. The Google Maps print outs I brought with of the hotel area & the lake area came in very handy. Location on Trip Advisor is fairly accurate, but the inn is about 100m further west up Dajing Alley.

If you're interested in doing a bit of tourist shopping, it's a great location. One thing to note is Hangzhou is humid, and the room retained a bit too much moisture for my comfort. As someone with allergies and sensitivity to humidity, this was problematic. However, it's not uncommon for Jiangsu Province to be so humid, so it's wasn't exactly surprising. Having said that, we definitely enjoyed our stay and I'd recommend this place if you're interested in staying in this part of Hangzhou.

“nice inn,feel like home”

the alley inn base on old town in hangzhou.is not easy to find but is quit classical chinese inn. bathroom is not that clean,but staff or boss is quit nice to you.the inn is a family hostel ,very easy to find food when you out of inn.they do not provide Breakfas

“Nice location in the mountain”

i went there with my family for holiday. the location is convenient and quite quiet. there's a bath pool in the room i booked. my boy is so excited about the pool and played in the pool whole afternoon.
