“Peace and quiet”

We are a family of 5 and we stayed 2 nights at Villa Kamen 2-4 July 2018. The apartment was rather small for a big family and there was no AC in the bedroom. It was a long gravel road to get to the house. None of this really mattered. We loved this place! There was a huge private balcony/patio with sun chairs. We could have stayed there for days just watching the magnificent view. Below the house we could go for a morning/night swim using a ladder from the concrete pier belonging to the house. The hostess Kristina was very kind and pleasant and she spoke good English. It was a bit annoying that the other guests had their two small dogs running loose. They scared our kids when they came up on our patio or came barking when we passed going for a swim. Regardless we loved Villa Kamen and would gladly recommend it or come back ourselves.

“A view to die for!”

Location fantastic. Apartment sleeps up to 6, but only comfortable with 2 as not enough clothes storage and very small. Location fantastic. Apartment sleeps up to 6, but only comfortable with 2 as not enough clothes storage and very small. Best feature is the balcony with a beautiful waterfront view as far as you can see. Guaranteed early morning wake-up as you can hear all from apartment above, especially if family with children. Very clean and comfortable bed. I am definitely returning to Vela Luka, as we loved the locals who are very friendly, but will choose bigger accommodation. Jayne - Bristol

We stayed there for 5 nights in July 2017. The pros: All of the porches are spectacular and have breathtaking views of the sea; The swimming is very good, although there is no beach or sitting area and the water is deep off the rocks so it is not great for young children; It is very quiet and a great place to escape for a few days; Vela Luka the closest town has everything you need - stores, restaurants, bars etc,; Sasa (Shasha) the caretaker is charming and very helpful; The kitchen and seating areas inside are adequate but that is not the reason you would stay there The cons: The bed we stayed in ( unit 4) was a disaster, extremely uncomfortable; It is not really designed to be "lived in" you are not going to cook or eat meals there to any great extent, there is a two burner stove and the bar b q is two levels below where we stayed; You must have a car, the town is a 10 minute drive and there is only one restaurant in walking distance (30 min each way); The directions they gave us were terrible. Fortunately Sasa came to our rescue but on our own we would not have found the place and at night, forget it you will never find it if it is your first time; The main door does not have a screen which would have been helpful as there were definitely mosquitoes; The recommended restaurants are, for the most part, at least 40 minute drive each way and at night the roads are dicey at best If you stay there you must stop at the store on your way in. There was nothing at the place when we arrived which was close to 9 pm., and it was too late to turn around and go back to town for supplies. Despite the obvious flaws we had a relaxing and enjoyable stay but i think there are likely better options in the area. Herschel.
