“Good place, but noisy on weekends”

This is rather new place, only hostel in the Trsat area of Rijeka. It is part of the Beertija club that operates on the ground floor, so the bar is actually the reception, and the club and its terrace/garden are common room. Hostel itself has its own entrance, separated from the bar. There are no breakfasts on the offer in the hostel, but plenty of options within few minutes of walking. Rooms are new, and clean with very comfortable bunk beds. Each bad has its own power socket and light (yellowish light to reduce glare when other people sleep). Each room has AC, and window blinds that can darken the room completely. There are no hangers or coat racks in the room just one cabinet for each bed. Bathroom was clean, with a good shower although a cabin was a bit small. Bathroom has wall installed radiator that doubles as towels rack and is good for drying them. There are two 4-bed rooms and one 7-bed dorm, each with their own ensuite bathroom accessible from both room and the main hall. Hostel is some 15 to 20 minutes of walking to the centre of the town. Beware: Return by foot takes much more time, because you have to climb several hundred steps back uphill. By taxi or bus, it is under 10 minutes to the centre and bus station is some 100m from the hostel. There are several excellent bars, restaurants and pubs in the neighbourhood (Beertija has several craft beers on the offer), and university campus is less then 10 minutes away. There are lots of parks in the neighbourhood as well as old fortification with great views over city. Problems: Beertija is a rock bar and a nightclub. On weekdays and Sunday it works until midnight, but on Friday and Saturday it works until 4:00 AM. Expect moderate noise from outside (with closed windows) while it works, especially on weekends. This is rather new place, and staff is inexperienced. Not all of the waiters in the bar have required information about the hostel operations and in the evening they are often crowded with bar patrons and have little time for handling hostel guests. Be prepared and have all the reservation info ready when checking in/out.
