“Caffe Franz looked very inviting”

The place and location is so lovely that after using the coin-operated toilet we decided that we needed to explore more of this enchanting town and hoped to come back as the pastry case and coffee looked promising. We never made it back being totally enchanted and floating away.

Nice hotel. Great location. Good food, but, if you are coming to breakfast, lunch or supper later, there are not enough food. We also would like to say special thank you to Nita Filip (waitress), Veronika (reception) and manager Kiril.

This is definitely not a four star hotel. If it were a four-star hotel, you wouldn't notice a terrible smell as soon as you enter the hotel and in the corridors. It's probably from the old carpet. Pros: 1. The location is excellent. It's right next to all of the hot springs fountains. 2. Most of the staff are very hard working and helpful, but some are often grumpy and not welcoming. The people who do the massages, work in the pool area and do the other treatments are very professional and very serious about their work. Cons 1. Smoking Even though this is spa hotel where people go to improve their health, smoking is allowed in front of the steps of the main entrance that is open 24 hours. So you are exposed to ambient lung cancer whether you want it or not. The only other entrance where smoking is not allowed is not open in the evenings. 2. Rules about loud speakerphone mode There are no signs in the hallways or in the dining room telling people not to play videos or music on speakerphone mode or to have phone or video conversations in speakerphone mode. There was a woman who walked around speaking very loudly on her phone in speaker mode so that anybody could hear both sides of the conversation. When I asked the employees in the dining room to ask the people at a table to stop watching their video or to turn down the volume, they said I should do it myself! It's not right for guests to be telling other guests to be quiet. That's the job of the employees. I told this to the director and he said that he would put up signs telling guests not to use their phones in speakerphone mode and tell the staff that it is their responsibility to maintain quiet in public areas. Most of the guests are elderly and probably have hearing problems and may not realize that when they're speaking really loudly on their phones or playing videos or music that other people can hear. Nobody comes to the hotel to listen to other people's phone conversations or videos. 3. Small print The type size on the schedule of treatments is really small. I had to help somebody who, even though she was wearing glasses, couldn't read where she was supposed to go and at what time. Most of the people at this hotel are elderly and have problems with their vision. So a large type size at least 14 pt, needs to be used for all important documents, especially schedules. 4. Front desk staff lacking some basic info I asked where to get a local map and was sent to a closed tourist info office. A four-star hotel should have its own maps. I asked which ATMs (bankomats) charge no commission or the least amount of commission and the front desk lady said “I am not interested in this information and can’t help you.” This is a common question tourists ask. 5. Not for people with mobility issues If you use a walker, cane or wheelchair, don’t come here. All of the entrances have steps. The elevators are small and don’t fit a person in a wheelchair plus a companion. —- I told the manager about most of these concerns and he said he would deal with them.
