“Surprisingly good room”

We stayed in June in Room #15, on the 2nd floor above ground for 2 nights. The room was moderately sized with room on both sides of the twin beds (pushed together). It had a desk and plenty of outlets. It also had a refrigerator and a rack above that for one’s suitcases or other things. The bathroom was small, but reasonably sized with a shower stall and wonderful, consistent hot water. Though we were across from the train station and on a major road (for Svendborg), the train and road did not bother us. The second morning we were awakened early by construction noises. There were no blackout curtains or drapes, so night shades for our eyes were welcome. Though there is no breakfast included, they do provide a lounge with an electric kettle, tea bags, instant coffee, and sugar and milk. For us, being near the train station was very convenient. It is also near the ferry dock. The only inconvenience was having to drag our suitcases about 6 blocks to the Best Western where we checked in and then drag the suitcases back. The BW staff was friendly and informative. We would probably stay here again.

“Standard hotel room”

One annoying thing was the cleaning staff, knocking on the door at 07:30, waking me up, asking when i was leaving. I spent several days there. The room was okay, standard room with a nice bed and a shower. One annoying thing was the cleaning staff, knocking on the door at 07:30, waking me up, asking when i was leaving. She also managed to lock herself into the room at 08:00, without permission, i had to kick her out. The hotel is managed by Hotel Svendborg, in the city centre. Acces is controlled remote from there. Exept from the annoying cleaning staff, i would surely reccomend this fairly inexpensive hotel.

This hotel is linked to the Best Western in the town, which is about half a mile away. Unless you have paid in advance you have to check in at the BW, but if you gave a credit card number when you booked then you press the intercom at the door of the Garni and you will be let in remotely and given a code to a keybox inside. It's not necessary to go to the BW to check out though, you just leave the key in a box and go. Our upper floor room was fine, accessed from a corridor that was open to the outside, so nice and airy and with a good view of the waterfront across the road. It's just a few minutes' walk from the town centre shops. The wifi worked well and was free. Downstairs is a kitchen with free coffee and tea making facilities, as well as a sitting room, but otherwise there are no facilities for guests and no staff on site. Don't bother buying the expensive breakfast available from the BW, you might as well pick up pastries and juice from the 7-11 at the nearby railway station and have them back at the Garni with a coffee from the kitchen. For a no frills, budget hotel which is clean and conveniently located, this fits the bill perfectly.
