This was one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had in Finland. We couldn't be happier with our stay here. The room was very spacious and good-looking. It is absolutely worth it upgrading to a higher floor room with at view for just 25€ per night, as the views over the city were spectacular to every direction. We could see all the way to the lakes and the Näsinneula observation tower. Breakfast was very good and diverse with many different options, including Finnish specialties like karjalanpiirakka, rieska and toscakakku and local Tampere specialty mustamakkara. Have you considered offering also pärämätsi as a local specialty? Reception staff were very nice, especially the Asian girl, who was very polite (puhui myös hyvin suomea). I didn't find the service theatrical or artificial, but instead here for once service was attentive and polite even by international standards. The rooftop bar Moro was excellent with breathtaking city views, nice drinks and good atmosphere. The gym was surprisingly well-equipped, which is not common in hotel gyms and all the equipment I needed was there. Location is good, just next to the railway station and Moomin museum. The main shopping street Hämeenkatu and many restaurants are close, as were the Tampere cathedral and Orthodox cathedral. Other attractions are a bit further away: ~ 20 minutes walk to Market hall, Market square, Alexander cathedral, Vapriikki and Finlayson factory, but still reachable from here. We will definitely come back another time. I can recommend this hotel and Tampere as a city for visitors as a hospitable alternative to Helsinki.
