Great location, amazing staff, and good value for money! Located next to the ski lift, with a personal ski-locker, we couldn't have asked for a better stay :). Only cons; the wifi is rather bad, and the kitchen is a bit small. However, if you spend your day in the mountains and use one of the many local restaurants for dinner, you'll be all-set.

Super convenient accommodation for a skiing holiday as it is directly opposite gondola and ski-hire shop but also close to shops, bars, restaurants. There are ski-lockers on site. 2-bed apartment was cosy and would be fine for a family of 3-4 or a group of friends of similar size planning to eat in most evenings. Staff were friendly and helpful. Odalys offer discounts on equipment and lift passes if you book direct with them.

Family of 5 ski trip with Crystal, we stayed in a 2 bed apartment. The complex itself is probably old enough but clearly been upgraded in recent years. It’s in a great location right beside Super Chatel gondola and the centre of town. So all amenities on the doorstep Our apartment was on the third floor on opposite side of the building, with a sunny balcony. So it had a nice view and was quiet. We didn’t notice any noise at night. The room was average size, which I’d say was bigger than a lot of apartments in French ski resorts from previous experience elsewhere. But really our party of 5 was max capacity. Our 15 year old slept in the living room, with the 2 younger kids in the smaller 2 bed room. There’s no storage in the living room for clothes snd wardrobes in the bedrooms are small. So it’s fairly cluttered for the week with everyone’s ski gear. A minor point, but worth noting. Kitchen facilities are fine. All the usual things you need. But as advised by crystal you need to bring/buy pretty much everything. Like dishwasher tablets, tea towels/cloths. Toilet paper, hand soap. Complex is more targeted to French families driving there rather than those of us flying. Again we’re familiar with this, but first time visitors take note. And also the need to clean apartment yourself before leaving. Also worth noting that they allow dogs in the apartments and quite a few of our neighbours had theirs. So a good bit of barking at times. Pool was a great bonus. The kids loved it, even if a little cold. But very busy at times, so if visit about 4pm it’s quieter. 5-6 is much busier. And definitely bring your own towels with you. One set of towels is provided for the week, so not great if you need to use these for apartment and pool. And forget about using the jacuzzi during busy time as the French families ignore the age limit and allow all their kids in with them. A couple of other points to note. Only 1 lift in the apt complex, and it’s slow and busy. Just be prepared. Use stairs Also the layout of Chatel is strange in that the better ski area (and a lot of the ski schools) are located in the pré la joux area as opposed to super Chatel. And lots of drag lifts in super Chatel. So be very careful booking lessons, particularly kids. It takes about 90 mins to ski there depending how busy it is. Big queues at Linga, so took us 2 hours one morning. And kids would need to be able to ski there as some runs are difficult. If you have to get ski bus it takes about 40 mins from church square. Thankfully our kids lessons were at super Chatel, would’ve been a nightmare trekking to pre La joux early each morning. Finally Chatel is very expensive. We didn’t anticipate that. Some lovely restaurants but lunch on the mountain typically cost us €160 and dinner in the evenings about €220. Family ski trips are pricey but we just found Chatel more expensive overall than other ski resorts we’ve visited in France. Apparently as it’s so close to Switzerland, but not sure if that’s true.
