Mme was tasked with finding the venue for this golfing weekend and it was a pretty good choice. Decent hotels around the Lake book up quickly summer weekends and we were struggling to find a room in Talloires which is where we usually go. We did have a mountain view room, which as others have noted is next to a busy road and the room was warm at night. We did sleep reasonably despite having the windows open. The room was a decent size although the table is sacrificed in the corner and there is not room for bedside tables. All the staff were welcoming and friendly especially at the restaurant. We had both lunch and dinner at the restaurant which was full, many local families appear to come for special events which has to be a good recommendation. The food was innovative and enjoyable apart from the cold chickpea mousseline with the guinea fowl which didn't work - at all. We took time to enjoy the beach and also rented the bikes to cycle down the bike path into Annecy which takes about an hour. Much preferred to another Lake Annecy traffic jam!! Code: DNWP&UFNQSAW

“Limited use of facilities”

We stayed for one night to make use of the spa and outdoor pool, only to find that the outdoor pool was closed and the spa was reserved for another group all day until 8pm at night. We stayed for one night to make use of the spa and outdoor pool, only to find that the outdoor pool was closed and the spa was reserved for another group all day until 8pm at night. I don't think many people would book a stay at a spa hotel if they were unable to use the spa. We did use it after 8pm but this felt like something of an inconvenience to the staff that were hosting another party at the bar. All in all, we felt a bit like second class citizens while other guests took priority.

Very pleasant, smiling staff, magnificent setting with a lovely view of the mountains. Our daughter loved the kids' club and the pool. On the other hand, the restaurant was a disaster: bad (to put it politely), very little variety (we've been eating the same thing for a week now), insufficient quantities (if you don't arrive at the start of the buffet service, you have a 50% chance of missing out on fruit or some of the starters), an unfriendly "chef", an overheated and very noisy dining room. In short, I ate better at my high school's Sodexo canteen when I was a teenager... As for the accommodation, it's also very average: the rooms are very poorly soundproofed (you literally sleep with your neighbors and you hear them going to the bathroom as if you were there...), the walls are as thick as cigarette paper, so on top of the noise from the neighbors you will face rather poor thermal insulation and in hot weather you live in an oven (no fan, no air-conditioning). The "housework" was only done once (they just redid the beds, added toilet paper and changed the towels and added a small bottle of shampoo. Apart from that, nothing else was done). The pool is fine, but it's not supervised, so it's essential to look after your children, which unfortunately not everyone does... The result is a certain amount of chaos at "peak" times of the day. In conclusion, even though at the start of the summer season the staff seem motivated, the seasonal workers pleasant and the management team smiling and efficient, this obvious quest for maximum savings is dragging the overall performance down, resulting in an overall negative feeling, which is a pity because the potential is great.. So we won't be back next year.
