My rating for this hotel is based on comparable hotels in Flaine and other French ski resorts we’ve stayed in. It’s not 5star compared to what you’d expect in the UK but is comparable to The Terrace d’Helios in the resort where we’ve also stayed. We enjoyed our time here, the main benefits: Great central location, no ski bus to catch and super quick access to slopes, bars and shops. Friendly and helpful staff on reception. Big swimming pool and two hot tubs (one adult only but children were allowed in the other with no issues). Pool towels provided. The apartments are pretty spacious, we had a 6 person, 2 bedroom/sofa bed in lounge for four people as our kids are older and don’t want to share now. View from balcony was great, overlooking the main Flaine Forum area. Ski lockers nice and big, we had both skis and snowboards for everyone in there with lots of space. Beds comfortable and beds and bathrooms clean. Plenty of towels provided and a few loo rolls and handy kit with washing up items, salt/pepper, sugar, teabags, coffee pods and biscuits. If snow is good enough you can ski in out of locker room but you do need to be competent on steeper slopes I wouldn’t recommend it for beginners or very young children. That said if not, you just walk down the steps, it’s only a few minutes walk. A few things could be improved: Apartment was a bit dusty, you can tell beds and bathrooms had been cleaned but it needed a deep clean (we found this at other similar rated hotels here too). Inventory list is a pain as it’s two full pages to check! There were a lot of missing items in our apartment so glad we did it and handed it in. We still had plenty of utensils and crockery but wouldn’t want to be charged for all the missing items! Hob and oven lacked instruction manual and even after googling instructions weren’t brilliant, recommend simple meals or eating out instead! I would recommend this hotel and return.

Review of CHG Residence, Flaine I recently stayed at the CHG Residence in Flaine, and unfortunately, the experience was quite mixed. Starting with the positives, the apartments themselves are comfortable and well laid out. If you’re lucky enough to get a slope-facing room, the views are genuinely excellent and one of the highlights of the stay. After a day skiing, it’s a great place to unwind and take in the surroundings. However, the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. The reception staff were consistently rude and unhelpful, which set a poor tone from the outset. Basic queries felt like an inconvenience to them rather than part of their role, which is disappointing when you’re on holiday. The check-out time of 10am is also completely unacceptable, especially for a ski trip where mornings are already rushed. It feels unnecessarily early and adds pressure to what should be a relaxed departure. Noise was another major issue. You can clearly hear people in adjacent rooms and above, which makes it difficult to fully relax or get a good night’s sleep after a long day on the slopes. The ski locker room is far too small for the number of guests. At busy times, it becomes congested and frustrating, and you can end up waiting just to access your own skis—far from ideal when you’re trying to get out early. Overall, while the rooms and views are a strong positive, the poor service, noise issues, and inadequate facilities significantly detract from the experience. With some improvements, this could be a great place to stay, but as it stands, it falls short of expectations.

Booked through Crystal for first week of January having previously stayed at Residence Alhena the year before. Unfortunately Alhena has increased its prices significantly but these apartments seemed of a similar standard and location in central Flaine. Check in is at 5pm but with a morning flight into Geneva we arranged an early check in for €95. Despite arriving at 10.30, the 1pm check in was strictly enforced but no problems leaving luggage allowing us to go and sort ski equipment, etc. Reception staff were friendly and professional throughout our stay. We had a 2bed apartment for 3 adults and found the apartment disappointing. You enter from the apartment door onto a small landing with a bedroom off with tiny ensuite shower. There is then a steep and narrow spiral staircase down to the rest of the apartment - I would not want to stay in this room with younger children or anyone with mobility issues. The main floor has a lounge area with a sofa bed that desperately needs updating as very uncomfortable to sit on. There is a bench style dining area which is very tight to sit in if any bigger than skinny and a small kitchenette with plenty of equipment but no worktop space. Upon check in we were given an exhaustive inventory that must be completed so spent first hour of holiday counting cutlery and crockery! 9ven is very high up so taking things in and out of oven was quite dangerous. Missing lightbulbs in kitchen area added to sense of neglect. Also on this level is a bathroom with bath suitable for a toddler (see photo - Pringle tube for scale!) with shower over which requires an invisible washer to be pushed up underneath the bath fittings in order to operate the shower. Takes 5 minutes to run any hot water and water pressure is low. There is a seoerate toilet with no wash hand basin. We were surprised only one toilet in a luxury apartment. No toilet roll provided but housekeeping had left their cleaning bottles behind! Finally on this floor is another bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space. We did ask for extra pillows as only one thin pillow supplied per person but never received them during our stay. Wall mounted TV in lounge with limited English channels but we took a Fire stick and used phone hot spot throughout stay which worked well. Wifi is incredibly slow in the apartments and is limited to one device only. Bakery service is available through QR code and seemed fairly priced and fresh pastries each morning from 8am. The Sherpa supermarket is just a short walk away through the shopping centre and down some steps. Boot room is accessed via 8nternal lift, decent size and a short distance from.nain lifts/ski school meet. Pool is very generous sized but freezing cold and air temperature is freezing too making it not that enjoyable. There are 2 lukewarm hot tubs that are used by small children as paddling pools or for underwater swimming practice which was quite off-putting. 3 saunas and a steam room that smelled like old trainers. Overall, apartments are in a good location but the layout of the apartment and general need for refurbishment is not 4 or 5 star. Staff were excellent but would not return as not value for money for the quality of accommodation.
