many of the hotels in the area look dated and are expensive, this place however is neither! we had a twin room (although actually ended up with a room containing a double and 2 single beds). the whole hotel is modern, quiet and very clean. rooms had a spacious shower, tv, good wifi connection, very comfy beds and air con - great news as it was hot when we stayed here. the breakfast is very limited and there is no restaurant, but there are some great food options in walking distance (peking palais is delicious). nothing here at all for me to moan about!

“An excellent close to the motorway stopover”

We spent just one night stopover. As far as this kind of practical chain hotels go, it is an excellent one. It even had some charm, particularly the garden and terras and garden area. the room was confortable and had all necessary amenities. Yes, the bathroom is quite small, as some have commented, but it was what I expected for this kind of hotel and at that price. It was very clean. The restaurant is pleasant and the food was good, and it is not true that they only have pasta. the breakfast was very nice too, very varied, good quality. Oh, and my dog was welcome, which was one of the main reasons to choose this particular location.

“Good Value”

Excellent stop off point for a journey south or on the way back. Good value, restaurants within walking distance, ok for a one night stopover and if your Sat Nav does not have location just follow directions to the Crocodile Farm, it is next door.

Our French godson and his family live in Pierrelatte but in a small, crowded apartment. So, whenever we can stop bye for a visit, usually two times a year, we check-into a local hotel or B&B for a night or two. This was our first visit to Hotel Le Caiman, located at this small city's noted "Crocodile Farm" attraction. We still cannot figure out why a town in the Rhone Valley near the A-7 motorway has a Crocodile Farm but... some things are best to remain one of life's mysteries! We have never visited the Farm but others we know give it high marks as a kids' attraction. The Hotel Le Caiman, as already noted by others, looks slightly foreboding outside (a concrete block-haus was my wife's comment) but the rooms inside are truly excellent. We were put on the 2nd (French = American 3rd) or top floor (relax, there is a very good, spacious elevator!), and shown to a beautiful, very modern double-bed room with "en suite" bathroom for the night. The insulation is truly wonderful - although our room overlooked the busy National 7 highway, we heard absolutely NO road noise with the window shut - and the A/C - Heat exchanger worked perfectly, cooling the room to 72 F = 21C (our visit was in August 2013 and it was 85 F outside) and the fan made very little sound. The bathroom - a shower: all we wanted to beat the heat after a 7 hour drive in the August traffic - was also sleek, clean and modern with standard towels, a good towel rack and room around the sink to place our vanity bags and toiletries (this is rare!). The bed had a new, firm mattress, alas with the nearly-everywhere-now nylon comforter on it (I truly miss the "old France" where hotels had real SHEETS and blankets but... it's an epidemic I know I cannot stop). About the only "sour note" was that the A/C was placed so one felt the cool air when in bed - it was not awful (or I'd not give le Caiman this good review) but I dislike having cool air on me when I sleep... still, the alternative was worse as it was a hot, muggy night and there was road noise when the window was open, so we kept the fan on low (there are individual room controls) and it was OK. We had an excellent evening reunion with our " French family" celebrating my godson's 21st birthday 10 days beforehand and then got a good night's sleep before continuing our journey south towards the sunny French "Midi" where we travel nearly every summer. Anyone in the region of Pierrelatte or Montelimar, whether on business, for a holiday or just passing through, should definitely check out Hotel Le Caiman for at least a night. You will be warmly welcomed and comfortably rested before continuing your busy schedule. Oh yes, and we even got a discount at an Internet booking site so the rate was unbeatable! Excellent quality/price ratio therefore. We will stay at Hotel Le Caiman again!
