Overall I was very impressed, having been wary having read some recent reviews. But I would happily recommend as a great family friendly option for the slopes. We had a nice spacious family room, though we did ask to be moved as the first was a sofa bed style not the bunks. But this was accommodated by the friendly reception staff. It was recommended to email in advance with room preferences. Having a pool (nicely heated) was a massive hit with the kids after the slopes. And the steam room and sauna was great for grown ups. The pool and spa area was clean throughout our time there. We were half board which was fine everything was very tasty and generous portions… a few days in, they introduced a dish of the day to the al a carte menu which massively helped with a bit more variety as otherwise was a little repetitive. The only negative is the kids menu is a little limited, 2 courses rather than than 3 for the adults and the only starter option was adult soup and there were limited child friendly veggies. I would suggest a pasta bolognaise or carbonara as one option. And just a starter of crudités (raw carrots, peppers (capsicum), cucumbers etc) with a little homous. As we ordered veggies for the children one day but it was sautéed fancy vegetables for adults really. But just popping a few carrots, peas or tomatoes would help. Not many young children will chose vegetables over fries or pasta but will eat them if on their plate! That said the nuggets, fish and hamburger steak were all lovely and freshly prepared not frozen rubbish. My other suggestion is drinks menu is hotel prices (rather than bar prices - beers were cheaper up the slopes!) therefore encourage residents with a discount or happy hour before dinner. As the bar and lounge area was a lovely and relaxing environment. The staff were lovely, helpful and hardworking. To some of the other reviews - yes a little bit of refresh of decor will improve things wooden windows etc (shower screen in our room actually made water pool on the floor). Yes the stairway probably could do with a harder wearing surface - but if people will wear ski boots inside carpet will wear! And seriously who takes photos of a boot room ceiling to complain! But as a family of four (kids 7 & 5) we enjoyed our stay, would recommend and would consider if we returned to Tignes le lac.
