Just returned from a brilliant weeks skiing with 12 friends in Val d'Isere with GreenRides staying at Chalet Le Thovex. The chalet is set up really well to host 13/14 adults in 6 bedrooms over 3 floors. The dining/lounge area is spacious and welcoming with a great fire in the heart of it and the dining table spans the whole panorama window which is great for breakfast and afternoon tea! TV with Nintendo Wii added to the fun throughout the week after dinner and a few jars of wine with plenty of space to play a variety of games. Bedrooms are all sufficiently sized for a weeks ski holiday with good en-suite facilities and access to the Sauna on the 3rd floor and Jacuzzi on the ground floor terrace which were both used all week. Located 50m back and elevated from the main road on its own plot of land really adds to the peaceful and quaint setting and with a 2 minute walk to the local bars, ski shops and restaurants and a further 3 mins to the slopes you really cant go wrong! It was the first year that we used GreenRides and were hosted by Adam for the week and I can honestly say that it was the best chalet service and food that we have received as a group since we started a group trip in 2011. Menu was well thought out, with great pairings for starter, main and desert and the alternate canapes/cheese board worked well keeping our waists in check! Adam was more than happy to vary the menu for dietary requirements and made some great alternative dishes throughout the week. Wine was variable as we drank the good stuff too quickly but were restocked half way through the week which was fine. Only point I would mark GreenRides down on is their equipment rental services. Most of the group had pre-paid for the best ski and boot options but as its a mobile fitting service based out of La Rosiere the van that turned up didnt have what we would classify as the best selection of skis and boots. After trying various boots and ski options we decided to go to the local InterSport and rent direct from them which resulted in much better service and equipment and currently in discussion with GreenRides to recover the costs for ski/boot rental that was not used. All in we had a brilliant week and would highly recommend Thovex with Adam looking after you!

“Amazing location”

The location of this chalet is amazing for access to the town and slopes, with private parking for many cars if you wish to drive. The location of this chalet is amazing for access to the town and slopes, with private parking for many cars if you wish to drive. Access to the chalet itself up the steep drive was icy and treacherous. Maybe we were unlucky with the conditions but either steps to should be built or a way to exit via the neighbouring buildings to make it safer. The configuration of the chalet is not quite as per the floor plan. I agree with a previous viewer that if a room is claimed to have an ensuite that its loo should not be directly accessible from the dining area (poo!). Naturally none of my party wanted this room. There should be a door where the half height curtain currently hangs. One of the top floor rooms was configured so badly that you had to climb over the bed to get to the wardrobe. Suggest a re-positioning of the heater would give more room for manoeuvre. Apart from the above the chalet was comfortable, nicely furnished, with plenty of hot water for all and the hot tub was a real plus. The hosts were very pleasant and happy to help where they could. The evening meals were of a very good standard. Well planned menus (apart from the raclette being served the night after the hosts' night off, when of course we’d all been out for a….raclette), sensible portions, well cooked and presented. Bit rushed, but this was addressed when we requested. However, breakfast was very dull, with the only variation each day how the eggs were cooked. Every other catered chalet I have used in France that is marketed to the English offers some cooked meat every day. The booking and paying process was a bit clunky. The portal was useful but then information we provided was not used and requested again in one case. Being able to partly pay in sterling bank transfer and then some of it having to be Euros by phone was not a great customer experience (due to company structure no doubt). But in summary, lovely chalet and a very enjoyable experience. Would be perfect if the owner put their hands in their pockets and addressed a few of the concerns above, and Greenrides tweaked a few things and splashed out on a bit of bacon!

A charming and spacious chalet, refurbished in recent years to a very good standard. Recent addition to the Green Rides list of carefully supervised catered chalets, having experienced this company before in la Rosiere where they are well established, I was keen to see what they offer in a different resort. I was reassured from the outset and left with confidence to use them again in the future. Location is excellent, a minute walk down the drive finds you at the free bus shuttles, or cross that road and five minutes level walk to main central lifts and nursery slopes. Chalet Thovex is not ski in ski out, but very few Val d,isere properties are. It is however incredibly central for the town yet amazingly has a very quiet "in the mountain" feel. If you are experienced d'isereans you will appreciate this, and if you are not, seek advice on how to get the best from this amazing ski area, including the fantastic free shuttles that give you simple and quick options to start and finish your day in stress free different ways. Each of the rooms is ensuite, to a high standard , the dining room/lounge area is comfortable and spacious with an open aspect. In addition there is a sauna on the top floor(untried), a deep and delightful hot tub on the patio (tried ). Outside ski locker, inside boot airing room and a reading room/entry hall. Most of the guests on this occasion arrived as we did by car and there is plenty of room right by the chalet to park for free or if you want, to offload right by the door then pay and park undercover in the town car park. The food was up to the expected very high standard for Green Rides, our hosts were young, charming and attentive and the chalet clean and warm. Overall a recipe for a successful holiday in an excellent resort and enormous ski area. Bring your own company , or take a lucky dip meeting new friends. This was a last week/end of season visit and in discussion, the very well experienced guests all agreed it a great success.
