“Exactly”

Exactly what one needs if travelling alone. Two minutes walk from Metz station. Clean, quiet with an optional breakfast for eight euros. The reception was manned by a helpful gentleman who spoke better English than I.

Bristol Metz is a 2 star hotel and therefore smaller and less luxurious than a 3 star. However it is quiet at nite, the bed was comfortable & the train station was an easy 5 minute walk across and down the street. These are the 3 most important qualities for me as a home base from which to day trip thru a very fascinating corner of France bordering on Luxembourg and Germany, both of which are easily accessible by train. The bathroom was small and the shower especially compact but everything was functional. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially Sosha, my housekeeper, who went out of her way to communicate with me, patiently trying to follow my simple French. And to top it all off, Metz is a beautiful and interesting city to explore and enjoy.

Stayed here 3 nights in early September. 4th floor room facing the train station. Quiet, clean, comfortable. Small bathroom, small room but both very serviceable for a short stay. Breakfast offered but not included. Very poor selection, nearby restaurants a much better value. Desk staff quite helpful and all spoke some English as our French is marginal at best

“ Not too bad but...”

Bathroom was ok but separate WC was like something from prison - seriously needs refurb. Nice beds and quiet at night so fine for a pit stop. Parking nearby for €11. Breakfast was the usual bun fight - literally. What happens when people pay for a buffet? You guessed it...played are piled high … more

Bathroom was ok but separate WC was like something from prison - seriously needs refurb. Nice beds and quiet at night so fine for a pit stop. Parking nearby for €11. Breakfast was the usual bun fight - literally. What happens when people pay for a buffet? You guessed it...played are piled high with food that gets left. It's pretty sad to see and why people can't regulate their consumption when faced with a fixed fee meal, I don't know. There were muppets taking several plates of bacon and more eggs than anyone could eat unless they are a heavy weight boxer. People - stop wasting food. Little video games area for kids that like that type of thing - looked ok. Certainly attracted a few big'uns who clearly didn't fancy a walk outside or anywhere for that matter. Reception staff ok but a bit frosty really.

We stayed for two nights. The room was cheap. Considering the price, the room was fine but a bit old-fashioned. There was a lot of wood what made the room dark. The bathroom was okay but really needs renovation. Unfortunately there was missing an device to put the shower handle in so you can take a shower without having to hold the handle all the time. Room 108 has it's window just right where the kitchen is so that all those greasy kitchen smells are coming right into the room (see picture). Breakfast was fine, costs 8€. Parking is possible across the street with a fee of about 14 € per day.
