“Fantastic woodland campsite with friendly staff and clean facilities”

We spent a lovely three days camping here in the beginning of June ‘25. The pitch was a good size and level, although the site itself is on a considerable slope. The reception building was clean and welcoming. The friendly staff were always available to help with our needs. The showers, washing and toilet facilities were kept very clean. There was always an abundance of hot water. Overall this was a lovely place to stay with a great ambiance. The only drawback was the access to the toilets block in our area, which was uneven ground with a large step up which wouldn’t have been accessible for all. Thank-you to the team at Wattwiller Huttopia for an enjoyable visit!

“Impeccable from a service perspective”

Overall we had a great time staying at the Huttopia in Wattwiller. There are lots of things to do (especially for 5-12 year old kids), our dog was able to access every area and the service was really outstanding. The reason we can't give it a perfect score is because we had issues with the heating. We rented a 'Cahutte', which is kind of a wooden hut with places to sleep upstairs and 'living space' downstairs. What we noticed immediately upon arrival is that it was incredibly cold inside. Since we arrived rather late in the day, we didn't go on to start the heating (which is a wood-fired stove), thinking that for sure it is easy to start with ideal wood ready to use (considering the roughly 8 degree Celsius inner/outer temperature). Well, that was not the case.. They provided enough ignition material, but the wood just did not ignite/burn through. And since the pieces were huge and no axe was provided, I just didn't manage. And fair enough, I'll be the first to admit that I can have more experience with setting a wooden fireplace, but it is not my first time either. So we slept in the cold for which we were absolutely not ready (our mistake). The next day we asked the administration if someone can help set the fireplace and someone came within the next minutes. He set it, said it should be good and presto, after 10-15 minutes even his fire died out.. Skipping some story parts, in the late afternoon someone else came and tried for over 15-20 minutes before he was finally able to get it going, which we were able to maintain for some time (although, guess what, if you are out of the house enjoying the campground and don't maintain the fire, it will die out, so we lost the heat again by the time we started sleeping, meaning in the morning we were freezing again). To the huge credit of Huttopia Wattwiller's management, they offered us a mobile home as an alternative location (which has a different heating solution), but there is a reason we wanted (our son) to experience what it is like to stay in such a hut. So after departing with 2 of us having caught colds (again, definitely our mistake too), we were wondering why for such cases they don't keep electric heaters. Of course there is the electricity usage, but for such a small space (maybe 12 square meters per floor) a small heater could do wonders. In either case, we will come again, but much better prepared :) 4/5 Tip: Do be aware that there is no classic hiking path close by which is easy to do with a stroller. So imagine coming here more as a way to be in nature and enjoy the lots of games/sports options that the site has to offer and perhaps when your child(ren) are a bit older (4+). It is also nice otherwise of course :)

“Hill side location on the French / German boarder”

Great site which I think has been recently taken over by Huttopia. Access is a bit off road for caravans and on site pitch access could do with some work (also be wary of following the satnav on the way with a caravan- we arrived with smoking breaks). Usual Huttopia washblocks and two swimming pool… more

Great site which I think has been recently taken over by Huttopia. Access is a bit off road for caravans and on site pitch access could do with some work (also be wary of following the satnav on the way with a caravan- we arrived with smoking breaks). Usual Huttopia washblocks and two swimming pools. Lots of access to hilly road biking and walking. Amazing thunderstorm one night when the campsite staff were very helpful and kept reception open all night just in case anyone needed anything.
