“Comfortable stay & great location despite payment confusion”

After doing a lot of research, my two friends and I chose this hotel for a short 3-night trip to Paris and booked directly with the hotel without any issues. They contacted me in advance to ask whether we preferred three single beds or a double and a single, which was a nice personal touch. The rooms were clean and a good size. The beds were very comfortable, and the pillows and bedding were perfect. The heating worked well just on a low setting, and we occasionally opened the large windows for fresh air. Despite being located next to the lift, our room was quiet. The bathroom was perfectly adequate, with reliable hot water, and housekeeping refreshed the room and provided clean towels during our stay, which was an unexpected bonus. There were also plenty of sockets near each bed, which was ideal for charging devices after a long day exploring the city. Rooms are accessed using physical keys rather than key cards, and each room included a small safe, TV and hairdryer (although I found my travel hairdryer more powerful). The location is great - about a 5-minute walk to the Grand Boulevards metro station (lines 8 and 9), which made getting around Paris very easy. The only area that could be improved is the clarity around payments. At the time of booking, we were told the full amount would be taken in advance and that we would only need to pay the tourist tax on arrival. However, only €10 was initially charged and this was later released a few days before our stay. On the day of arrival, the full balance (€429, excluding tourist tax) was charged to my card. At check-in, I was then told this was only a 'pre-authorisation' and that I needed to pay the full amount again plus tax (€458). This meant that the original €429 was held on my account for the entire trip, which I hadn’t expected, and I had to transfer emergency funds onto my card so I had some spending money available. The held amount was refunded just over 12 hours after departure, but the process was confusing and unexpected. Clearer communication - or charging either a % deposit or the full amount just once - would have been much easier. Aside from this, we all really enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to book again for a future trip to Paris. Thank you for making our first visit to the city a comfortable enjoyable one! Merci!

“Our Paris Short Stay”

Quaint little hotel. Well positioned in regards to transport, dining and seeing various historical sites. Though small, the bathroom was great. Everything was well maintained.
