“Great hotel!”

The hotel was lovely, well-maintained, and in a great location. The best part of the hotel was the staff. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Our room was well-appointed and very clean. We really enjoyed the water pressure and warm bathroom floors. I would certainly stay here again.

Why would you want to stay anywhere else in Paris? This boutique hotel has abundant charm, excellent service, luxury linens, modern bathrooms, and rooms furnished with French antiques and art. Its location in the heart of the left bank can’t be beat. Walk to the Louvre, Musee D’Orsay, Notre Dame, and the cluster of nearby antique galleries and luxury shopping. Don’t miss the food hall at Au Bon Marche, Barthelemy’s cheeses, Poilane’s iconic bread/pasteries, or a 15€ glass of champagne at nearby Au Sauvignon. I never do!

“Average Hotel”

Hotel is recommended by the NYT 36 Hours feature, so we chose based on that, but it’s a bit underwhelming. Good location, staff is good, but the rooms are small, and certainly not beautiful like the pictures they use to promote the hotel.

I stayed a few nights at this hotel together with my friends. I will start with the positive things and then proceed to the downsides. PRO's: The Location: is great. It is less busy and packed with tourists than the area of 1 and 2 arr., for instance. You are close to nice shopping streets, Le Bon Marche, plenty of good restaurants and brasseries. Service: was very good as well. The staff was very responsive with a right attitude. Breakfast: I didn't have breakfast in the hotel, but my friends did. It is pretty basic, the breakfast room is small. I had my breakfast at Cafe de Flore which is just round the corner. CON's: The Room: the ceilings in the rooms are ridiculously low. With my length 178cm I had max 10 cm left to reach the ceiling. Mind you, it was a better room, because the first 2 rooms I was showed had even lower ceilings. I am wondering if it is allowed and there are no legal restrictions or architectural norms that regulate these aspects. Although I could walk in my room, it became challenging when I decided to take a shower. You need to step into a bath, meaning I couldn't stand straight and I had to bend over. To wash my hair, I had to sit on a squat. Not particularly an experience you expect from staying in a 4 star hotel. Cleanliness: the smell is musty, the smell of an old textile was disturbing. I complained at the reception and asked them to use home perfume in my room (they have a demonstration stand with home diffusers and candles in the lobby). I don't know if they used it in my room, but it didn't help. The smell persisted. The linens and towels are also not impressive. Cheap, worn out cotton sheets. Bathroom: no make-up mirror. The mirror above a sink is in a deep niche and it is impossible to apply the make-up, for example. Its appeared that the hotel has rooms in another building with the normal ceilings. That's were my friends stayed after they asked for an upgrade. Still, they also had something with a smell and 2 of them even developed allergy symptoms. Meanwhile, If you'll decide to stay in this hotel, ask for a room with the normal ceilings, otherwise you'll get a camping experience in the heart of Paris at the luxury-level pricing.
