“Lovely quaint and accomodating!”

Staff is very kind and accomodating. Room was very small for two friends but nicely appointed. Breakfast here was VERY special and they prepared anything you asked!

The most charming and luxurious hotel I've ever enjoyed. Yes, the Ritz in Madrid was a close second for historical charm. And Reid's Palace on Madeira came close for service and accommodation. But both of these are large scale operations and somehow HLP is able to best them both. Fitness Center, library, breakfast room with memorable croissants. Exquisite decor in every detail. I will return. In the meantime, if you promise not to take my beloved room 45, you should go. Gracious personnel, ideal location off the park and its little museum, surrounded by some of the most interesting shops, markets, bakeries and restaurants of the arrondissement. Close to the Sorbonne, the Pantheon, St. Sulpice, Bon Marche. And away from tourists. Ten stars is more like it.

“Pleasant Stay”

A great location near the Luxembourg Gardens. Our superior room was comfortable with a nicely appointed bathroom. Breakfast buffet had variety and was served in a lovely sunny room. A great location near the Luxembourg Gardens. Our superior room was comfortable with a nicely appointed bathroom. Breakfast buffet had variety and was served in a lovely sunny room. Our only issue was the mattress on the bed. it consisted of 2 twin mattress pushed together, which created a large gap and trough in the middle of the bed. This was problematic and hard on our backs as the mattress had a slope to it. We did report this to the front desk and is perhaps just a single issue and not through all the beds in the hotel.

This is a difficult review to write. The hotel - and most of its staff - are absolutely lovely. One gentlemen, however, who worked the front desk really marred our experience. The hotel has a bar, with a cocktail list. The front desk person must act as bartender, as well as desk-minder. One evening at 5:00, three of us sat down at the bar and ordered cocktails. The gentlemen was noticeably perturbed, clearly not happy that we ordered three different drinks (from the menu). It was a bit odd, particularly since the front desk was not particularly busy.. A few days later, the three of us sat down again at around 5:00. This time, he refused to serve us unless we ordered the exact same drink. It was a bit shocking, but we didn’t say anything and left to find a friendlier bar. Frankly, he made us feel humiliated. This same gentlemen ordered a taxi for us when it was time to head to the airport. There were four of us for the ride, with a lot of luggage; he specifically acknowledged that the taxi would need to be large. The taxi that arrived was not particularly large, and we were crammed in. That wasn’t really the problem, though. The problem is that the taxi driver ripped us off, charging an enormous sum once we arrived (and never turning on his meter). I have no idea if there is a connection, but I would never allow that gentlemen to order a taxi for us again.
