Staff is very good and accommodating. Beds are very comfortable and the room was clean and very nice. There are ports for phones and computers. If you use a hair dryer, bring your own. It may be fine for some, but not my hair. We stayed for four nights, left to another part of France, then returned for two nights. Be aware that if you don’t book directly with the hotel, there is no free shuttle. I feel like this should be more clearly stated on the website. Also, on our second stay, for some reason, there was a strong sewer smell coming from the bathroom. When we came back after a day of sight seeing, the bathroom door was closed and when we opened it, the smell was awful. We opened the window, which helped. We were leaving in the morning, so we just closed the door since there were probably no rooms to move to at that point. The first four days were fine, with no issues. Other than that, which I suspect was a fluke, I recommend the hotel.

“Good rooms, location but bad service and ethics”

We stayed for 8 nights and loved our room and location. However there were 2 incidents that were concerning, particularly the second incident. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because of the 7:30 am breakfast start. However, after a couple of good breakfasts, we experienced a deterioration of the breakfast environment & preparation for several days in a row. On the third day in a row, we came downstairs at 7:40 am and there was not any hot food, the coffee machine did not work and made a mess for my wife, and the rolls were old and stale. After asking the staff person about the missing food and coffee machine, she seemed annoyed causing her to rant in a very loud, almost shouting manner while making a lot of noise intentionally by banging pots, utensils, and slamming cabinets, drawers, etc. When the hot food finally came out, they were cold and inedible. My wife spoke with front desk representative, and she assured us that this would be fixed before the next breakfast. I followed up with an email saying that we should be refunded these several days due to the breakfast issues and the front desk representative responded by saying, “Don’t hesitate to mention it at the checkout so we can find a solution together.” I am happy to report that the next morning breakfast and the environment was much better. The second issue was more troubling. We were originally scheduled to leave on Sept. 18, but due to the strikes occurring on Sept. 18 with the Metro and other services and at the advice of our airline, we extended our stay until Sept. 19. We asked the same front desk representative about the availability of rooms for an additional night. She indicated that our current room was not available but that there was a smaller room on the 4th floor at 175€ and a room similar to ours on the same floor for 207€. We said that we would get back to her, but we first needed to see if we could change our flight to Sept. 19. We were able to change our flight but the representative had left for the day so the night attendant said he would leave the other front desk representative a note and hold the room like ours on the 1st floor. The next morning the original front desk representative said that a room like ours was available but the smaller one on the 4th floor was no longer available. I asked that in consideration of what occurred over the course of several breakfasts and her comment in her email saying, “Don’t hesitate to mention it at the checkout so we can find a solution together”, could we get a discount on the room? She said she would check with her manager and send me an email. Soon after we left for the day, I received an email saying that the room would be 207€ which included the discount. However, she had quoted us a price of 207€ the night before and that was before I had even asked about a discount due to breakfast issues. I mentioned this to her in a follow-up email, and she said this price included the “20% discount, our last-minute rate.” However, as I noted above, she quoted a price of 207€ the night before, prior to me asking for a discount! Also, anyone could have received this “last minute price”, in fact, I saw the same last-minute price online. So, I or anyone could have booked that themselves/myself without receiving the promised compensation for several terrible breakfast experiences. As a result, we did not receive any consideration for the breakfast issue and she essentially lied about the price including a discount. Moreover, our first room was a Deluxe Suite. The room for the one night was not the same or similar room, but instead, a Deluxe Double, a smaller room which says online the last-minute price is 207.2€, and confirms that we did not receive a discount as promised or the same room as ours as stated when we inquired about booking an extra night. Why would she need to ask the manager for a supposed discount after already quoting prices for both rooms of 207€ and 175€? The behavior by this individual and perhaps the manager was unethical, unprofessional and essentially bait and switch.
