Ibis Rouen Centre Rive Gauche Mermoz

“Ideal stop over.”

Second time here passing through on the way south. Now restyled as an IBIS. Nice staff. Room felt a little tired but was clean, bed comfy (possibly best sleep of the trip), secure parking and nearby shops. Can't go wrong for the money.

This is an IBIS,and far better than the photos on this site. We were welcomed and checked in by a very efficient young guy,whose English was perfect! He had allocated us an upper floor and quiet room without even us asking and offered lots of local helpful information. The room was light,airy with a great bathroom,the best I've experienced with Ibis.It had a large walk in shower and space for towels. The breakfast room was spacious and light looking out onto the rear rugby grounds.Tables were a generous size and lots of them. Everything on offer was laid out and looked fresh. Cheeses,charcuterie,eggs,plenty of fruit choices etc and then lots of pastries! All was excellent. We were in the area to visit both Rouen and the surrounding area and were fortunate to have lovely warm sunny weather and so required some extra towels on our return,nothing was too much bother for reception. Towels,pillows and bedding were all good,and we slept very well. Location is good with easy access to the centre,about 20 minutes or so on foot. There are a couple of convenience stores close by and a pizzeria but the cathedral and plenty of cafe bars / restaurants are within walking distance.

“The room and location exceeded our expectations.”

This is a Ibis hotel and a very good one,it exceeded our expectations. We checked in on a Sunday after parking right outside on a quiet side road. Check in was very efficient by a young man who was exceptionally helpful, friendly and efficient. He allocated an upper floor room overlooking the rugby pitches which was very quiet and sunny, offered a hair dryer and lots of useful information to make our stay easy. The room had only three pillows and so we requested an extra which was provided along with extra towels. Unfortunately after housekeeping had been the next day our extra towels had been removed! But easily remedied. The bed was very comfortable, but there was the usual one chair,not great when the room is set for two people. Storage was adequate for a couple of nights. The bathroom is spacious and spotless with a large contemporary walk in shower and two shower heads.Really very good in hot weather. Its just a 20 minute easy stroll into the centre across the river, which we enjoyed. There are a couple of small shops close by,one a Carrefour convenience store, well stocked and open til late on a Sunday. Breakfast was good, the room was spacious and bright. Plenty of choice, just a bit crowded at the coffee and juice machines because a French coach party had booked in! Breakfast staff were then a bit slow to top up and we asked twice for some water. They seemed a bit reluctant to provide chilled water. There weren't any ordinary breakfast tea bags, apparently they had run out! The cups / mugs were muddled sizes and incorrect for tea,bit disappointed with no ordinary tea being available for two days. An easy issue to remedy because we had asked both the breakfast staff and the receptionist,she said that there should be some but,none available for our stay. Nevertheless we enjoyed the pastries and fruit. Overall it is recommended and we would stay again if in the area. The photos on this site aren't current its far better.

Stayed here one night as a stopover when travelling further south. Secure parking is available. The room was very tidy and overlooking a rugby pitch at the rear of the hotel, so by evening it was very quiet. Bathroom was very modern with a walk in shower and everything was clean. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The area is not ideal, but you can drive into town or alternatively drive to the nearby Docks 76' shopping centre which has some places to eat and various shops inc a local Co-Op.

Good location for the main roads. Clean and comfortable room. Secure parking. Avoid eating n the shopping center 'Saint Sever' - we did not have a good experience. Good location for the main roads. Clean and comfortable room. Secure parking. Avoid eating n the shopping center 'Saint Sever' - we did not have a good experience. There is an excellent bakery just down the road from the hotel which was open late - we wish we had eaten there! We did buy an excellent breakfast from it much cheaper than the rates charged at the hotel. Not walking distance to the old town but good for a stopover if driving South.
