This is indeed a charming hotel nestled near the picturesque village of Saint-Paul de Vence. Traditional Provençal architecture and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Location is walking distance to the old town itself. There is parking behind a closed gate which you operate yourself by use of a code. Nice swimming pool with excellent view of the surroundings, perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast was well tasting and is served in a relaxing atmosphere below the lemon trees. I also need to mention the two really friendly golden retriever dogs, which are basically part of the hotel and adds to the charming atmosphere. The combination of beautiful surroundings, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a perfect choice for a relaxing getaway. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Saint-Paul de Vence.

“Piece of Heaven on Earth!”

After a long week of travel my friend and I split a suite here to end our trip. We booked a room that had two beds with a door that made it nice and comfortable to share. It came with access to a patio where we could sit and have wine as the sun set. The hotel staff was so friendly and were so helpful in booking us a taxi for our early morning checkout to go back to the airport. Breakfast was lovely and delicious. Make sure to try their homemade orange jam. We spent all day by the beautiful pool where they also came by with menus for lunch. We then took a 10-15 minute walk to the town where we ate, shopped, and had a lovely time. A dream trip and a great price for the experience we had! Merci!

This hotel has so much potential, and I want to be fair in saying there were many genuinely charming aspects to our stay. The setting is beautiful, with breathtaking views across to Saint-Paul-de-Vence, and the grounds are full of character. The building itself is spacious and rambling, and the people who run it are friendly, down-to-earth, and seemed to make an effort with all their guests. It has all the makings of being a truly lovely destination for a relaxing week. That said, there were many basic things that should and could have been fixed, and it made the overall experience frustrating. To start with, the gate entry system is awkwardly positioned above large bins, so you have to lean over them to type in the code. When we visited, only one half of the gates opened, making access to the sloped car park particularly difficult — especially in a rental car. The hotel is ‘family-friendly’, and in some ways it is — the large rooms and relaxed pool atmosphere are well-suited to children. But the food situation was extremely frustrating. While what was served was fresh and tasty, there were many evenings with no food available at all. There was no children’s menu, no snacks or ice creams, and no fridges in rooms. Combined with very strict rules about bringing in outside food and drink, this made it almost impossible to relax as a family. Much of our energy went into working out how to feed our children at the next meal. When our daughter fell ill during the trip, the lack of flexibility around food and drink became even more stressful. Other frustrations were maintenance issues that should have been easily rectified: the hot tub was broken, pool showers didn’t work, some plugs and lights in our room were out of order, and the stairway lighting to our top-floor room didn’t work either. Small things, but they added up. The food bill also ended up being very high indeed, partly because we were left with little choice but to eat on-site. Breakfast was €16–17 per person for what was essentially bread, coffee, and orange juice (not freshly squeezed). On very hot days, an expensive lunch at the hotel felt unavoidable as there was no alternative nearby for the children, but there were still evenings where we resorted to crisps from a local shop because no dinner at all was offered but there was no way of keeping some food for the children at the hotel as there was no fridge (we snuck in some crisps and snacks in desperation!!). After a week we left feeling more tired than we had expected, which is not how you want to feel after a holiday. It’s a real shame, because with just a few tweaks — more consistent food options, a children’s offering, working basic facilities, and some attention to maintenance — this hotel could be transformed from a “nearly wonderful but too frustrating” place into somewhere we’d happily return to again and again.
