The Hotel Merkur in Baden-Baden exceeded all my expectations. The location is perfect—right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore all the local attractions on foot. The room was comfortable and stylish, with a modern touch that made the stay even more enjoyable. What really stood out to me, though, was the exceptional service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made an effort to ensure everything was perfect. The hotel’s restaurant has introduced a new concept, and it’s definitely worth trying. The food is delicious, with a fresh and creative approach that takes it to the next level. It’s the kind of place where you can have a memorable meal without leaving the hotel. Overall, Hotel Merkur combines great comfort, top-notch service, and fantastic food. It’s a place I’d gladly return to, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Baden-Baden.

After staying in this hotel now the past 3 times in Baden-Baden, I don’t change it anymore. If there is availability I will always come back here. The newly renovated Junior suites and double rooms are perfectly for my business travelling. Very quiet place for working in between meetings and just 2-3 minutes walk to all places in the center of Baden-Baden. Family atmosphere and always quick responding friendly staff. Thanks for the nice welcome every time!

“Be wary of the house-keeping staff at Hotel Merkur”

Hi This is to share my experience of stay at Hotel Merkur. The front desk staff and also the staff at the restaurant during breakfast were very co-operative and helpful. The only downside is that except for the suites none of the rooms have air-conditioning. So it got very hot when I visited in May and had to request for portable fans which were promptly provided. We appreciate that. I aso had a bad experience probably due to our carelessness but a cover of money was stolen from my daughter's room. She had left it in her handbag in a rush when she went out for sightseeing instead of putting in the safe. Evidently it was taken by one of the room cleaning staff. It may have been our carelessness but that was no reason for it to get stolen from my daughter's purse. We did report this to Mr. Matthias Hirsch, the owner of the hotel. He said he did enquire with two of his housekeeping staff who had cleaned my daughter's room but they mentioned there was only a suitcase in the room and nothing else. This is not possible as my son and she were both sharing the rooms and they had two large and two small suitcases between them. Also my daughter's handbag containing the cover was lying in the room when she had stepped out as she was carrying another bag. Evidently the staff lied about this and Mr. Matthias chose to believe them rather than his guests. We are well travelled and even we have the sense not to falsely accuse any staff. But evidently we are 100% sure it was stolen from the room. Anyways it was our carelessness but would have liked if Mr. Matthias could have taken more action towards the concerned housekeeping staff and not believe their story. Also the house-keeoing staff had entered my room on one occasion even when i had the Do not Disturb sign hanging outside. They said they had to leave at a certain time so they need to clean the room. So this is a request to all future travellers to the hotel to be very vigilant and careful about their belongings lying in the room.
