“Great experience in Stuttgart”

I stayed at this hotel during our orchestra tour and would like to highly recommend the restaurant - the owner was extremely friendly and hospitable and the food was very good. Saved our day and created a great experience! If you need a friendly place with good food, I recommend!

Stayed at the Mercure Hotel Stuttgart City Center for a week at the beginning of August of this year. The property is not quite in the city center but approximately 15 minutes walking distance from downtown and the main train station (Hauptbanhof). Took the subway from the airport (the station is right underneath the terminal). The ride to the main train station took about 30 minutes. From there I walked to the hotel after calling the front desk for directions . The hotel is located on a busy street with both vehicular and train traffic. Check in (which is at 3:00 P.M.) was quick, friendly and efficient. My room was a privilege room which are situated in the back of the hotel and include a coffee/tea maker the coffee and tea which were replenished when one or the other run out. I would recommend booking these rooms if you can as the rooms in front face that busy street and may be noisy especially during the day and do not include the coffee and tea in the room. The privilege rooms also have a view of the quiet part of the city which was quite nice. As is widely prevalent in Europe there is no iron/ironing board in the rooms - however there is an ironing room in the hotel's basement level which is always open. This floor also contains the conference rooms and various sitting areas which make for a comfortable atmosphere. My room while not large was just the right size to move around. There was an open closet with a rod, hangars and luggage storage right at the room entrance. There is a closet with a glazed glass door at the other end of the room by the large desk by the window. The room also had a minibar and a safe though I would have liked a mini-fridge as well. The bathroom while not large, had all the usual amenities and was nicely decorated in blue and white tiles. There was a stand-up shower (no tub) with a door opening both in and out. And I must also mention the housekeeping staff which are beyond excellent, They are around all the time keeping both the hotel's public areas and the rooms spotless. There is by the way, an outdoor rooftop terrace accessible from the top floor which is very inviting on warm summer days. However the one chair in the room (at the desk) was not comfortable for sitting for extended periods of time and would have preferred a better cushioned chair to work and watch TV. The TV was excellent with plenty of channels to choose from including many music channels - nice! The hotel restaurant serves an excellent breakfast daily with fruit, cold cuts, eggs and pastries, coffee, tea and water - just the perfect start for the day. The breakfast is an option on the Accor website where I booked this hotel - choose the breakfast! It is also open for lunch and dinner Monday thru Friday (had a nice dinner on Friday) but is closed on Saturday and Sunday. I do hope the hotel reconsiders staying open on Sunday as most restaurants in the city are closed on Sunday. Fortunately there are two restaurants open for dinner daily in the very large Milaneo shopping mall a block away, L'Osteria for Italian and Haus im Gluck for burgers. Both places are excellent. The mall is very convenient for both eating and shopping. It also has a grocery store which was handy. But the real surprise of the hotel room was the bed which was one of the best I have found in any hotel. It was just the right firmness and cane with two soft and two firm pillows (I used the firm). I had a great night's sleep during my entire stay. And the picture of the Porsche above the bed was a nice touch - Stuttgart is home of both Porsche and Mercedes-Benz. I visited both of their museums and recommend them highly. Both are accessible by train from the main station. So to conclude, I would recommend this hotel for the location, comfortable rooms, especially the bed (not so much the chair) - and the service from the staff and housekeeping. I would certainly consider it for a return trip.

As silver Accor members we received free drink vouchers but the bar was closed at 8pm when we returned back to the hotel. The location is good, next to a shopping centre and 15mins walk to train station.
