Stayed there 3 nights and confirm the usual pluspoints of DORINT group which is their professional service mentality/attitude plus a nice buffet breakfast. The rooms and the hotel are spacious and functional but not fancy or stylish as everything has the original Charme of the late 80s. The spa facilities are functional and well maintained and also have the 80s flair. What I disliked is only their too expensive pricing for parking 15€ and a bottle of mineral water at 7,50€. To sum it up , I would visit the place again due to suitable value for money (except the water ;-).

This hotel deserves to be a 5 star, but is hindered owing to simple things that can be fixed (more below). The property sprawls a large estate with trees of all colours made especially beautiful during the time we visited, just before Autumn. There are so many incredible spots for photo taking, but that’s also true of the town. On to the hotel grounds. There are a lot of up and down slopes even to reach the reception and of course to the various houses where the rooms are. As the hotel was built decades ago, one has to use stairs in the houses to climb up to their rooms. Luckily we got a ground floor room, but even so, dragging our luggage to the house was a task. One needs to be reasonably fit to do this, and we saw some people struggling and panting. While most people come in their cars and park here (cost EUR 15/day), one can also take a bus from Garmisch Bahnhof, and reach just outside the hotel, but it will still be a good physical exercise to come up to the reception with the luggage. On the Saturday we checked in, the hotel was full and quite busy. The reception staff did their job but were not that friendly. They just handed over a map pointing to the house we had to go to get to our room. And then it was up to us to figure it out! On the positive side, our room was very large with a foyer, a double bed, a dining area and a big balcony facing huge trees. I think it may have been renovated a few years ago, as everything worked. I was worried about old carpets having read some of the reviews here, but our room had parquet flooring. Everything was clean and there was a lot of storage space too. The only staff that was smiling and was pleasant was the housekeeping lady who was from Brazil! Now here are some things the hotel could easily fix to earn a 5 star rating: - First, have a golf cart/ buggy to ferry luggage and people on this hilly terrain, especially upon check in and check out. There is one, but I think it is selectively offered, which is super strange. We saw an old couple dragging their own luggage, while another young couple got the buggy ride. - Second, have some basic amenities provided in all rooms. A water kettle with coffee/tea sachets is now standard across almost any hotel, not sure why it’s not here. I had to go and wait at the reception for 15 mins to get a heating kettle. Providing some basic snacks, water etc. would also be appreciated. Also, room slippers should be given in the room without being asked for separately. - Third, bathroom amenities should include shower and conditioner separately. Not using the same bath gel for shampoo. For a hotel that provides body lotion (a pleasant surprise as I didn’t get this in other hotels in Germany), this can be easily fixed. - Fourth, have more vegetarian options at breakfast. Even the meat eaters can eat the veggie stuff but the vegetarians are limited to what you offer, which isn’t a lot. Also, during peak hours at breakfast, please have someone escort people to tables, otherwise it is a free for all, especially on busy days. - Finally, have more guest-friendly staff training. While they certainly do their job, a little smile and warmth will go a long way to make a more pleasant guest experience. Overall a really nice hotel property, but some things need to be fixed before the hotel itself can get the 5 star rating that it was built for.
