When we made the reservation for this hotel we had no idea that this would be such a pleasant place to stay. The hotel is opposite the winery of the proprietor and the place is small with less than 10 rooms but these are very indivually styled and all have a special theme. We landed in the white room with was very special and looked like being designed by the Dutchman Jan des Bouvrie, who loves white interiors (too). We were welcomed by the wife of the owner and immediately felt at home. Information in the room pointed out where we could eat dinner that evening and that was also a nice surprise (see separate review of restaurant Stern). The breakfast was on the top floor and seating was nice in this room too. We liked the quiet village and made an evening walk. Next time when we are in the area we must stay longer. A real gem.

This is a family owned and operated boutique hotel in an incredible location. The 8 rooms are all uniquely decorated and furnished in styles that are reflected in their names. "pop-art" and "space" are the two that spring to mind. "Space" was furnished and decorated entirely in shades and textures of white and glass! Amazing. And totally not what you would expect to find in a hotel principally created to cater for people who come to the associated winery to taste and buy the wines. The staff and owners were helpful, friendly, and charming, and everything was spotless. Breakfast was delicious and for an Englishman like me the outstanding feature was real tea pots, with real English Breakfast tea. (not lukewarm fruit-flavoured water in a glass. this is not tea, people.) The bonus, however, was Sulzfeld itself. It's a medieval walled town with 90% of its original gates and almost of its wall still intact. Inside the wall every street was cobbled, and every house neat and tidily decorated. Many of the houses preserve their original features, and the river Main is only 100 metres away from the walls. All of this is only a 10 minute detour from the A3.

“Excellent place for stopover or more”

Stayed in this hotel for one night returning from Italy, exactly half way our journey. Lovely and large appartment - all of them have different character - and a big plus was the nicely stocked fridge with wines from Franconia, made by the estate/winery/hotel owners which you could drink for cellar… more

Stayed in this hotel for one night returning from Italy, exactly half way our journey. Lovely and large appartment - all of them have different character - and a big plus was the nicely stocked fridge with wines from Franconia, made by the estate/winery/hotel owners which you could drink for cellar prices. Good stuff. Lovely garden, very good service and breakfast. Not particularly cheap but definitely worth the money spent. I would return here for a few days to explore the region.

This is a great place to stay. All rooms have a different theme and they are all extremely well done. We booked ‚The Loft‘ which was designed in a New York Loft style accommodation. Colour theme in black/white and really well done. The room is only 19qm but it is ample and has everything you need. The breakfast room is large and airy with a variety to choose from. All their Jam & Marmelade are homemade. The take extreme care during the COVID-19 and wearing a Maske and gloves when entering the breakfast area and the buffet are a MUST DO. Obviously when one is at their designated table masks can be taken off. The hotel is situated in the beautiful historic town of Sulzfeld am Main still enclosed by it‘s city walls. Quite a few restaurants to choose from and a lovely place to stroll through during the day and the evening.
