The Caro & Seling Marriott Hotel met all my expectations, and the entire team was exceptional.  A special mention to Volodymyr and Sandra at the front desk, always welcoming and accommodating.  The food and beverage team were always attentive in the morning for breakfast, especially Siri.  The bartenders and servers on the terrace made the evenings relaxed and special.  Caro & Selig is a special hotel in a special place in the world.

“Great stay”

Lovely hotel. It’s doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside is very nice. Rooms and bathrooms are modern and clean. Location is very convenient to walk into the village and even to walk to the next village called Rottach-Egern. About 4 miles away. Lots of restaurants to choose from. The f… more

Lovely hotel. It’s doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside is very nice. Rooms and bathrooms are modern and clean. Location is very convenient to walk into the village and even to walk to the next village called Rottach-Egern. About 4 miles away. Lots of restaurants to choose from. The ferry which can take you all around the lake is in the village center about 10 min walk. Parking garage is next to and connected to the hotel. We would stay here again.

“An experience I will repeat”

An excellent hotel. Not looking really great on the outside. Staff was very supportive. The rooms are great. Clean and spacious. Location is very good. Breakfast more than excellent. Good restaurants nearby. And beautiful lake of Tegernsee at minutes walk time.

The staff were superb, particularly at breakfast, the rooftop bar and in reception. If you expect English to be widely spoken, it is not. The staff were superb, particularly at breakfast, the rooftop bar and in reception. If you expect English to be widely spoken, it is not. Sustainability is important to Caro & Selig, and it's great to see this commitment. Updated marketing images/collateral would clarify the appearance of the darkened wood exterior. We informed the hotel we would be late and arrived around 11:00/11:30 pm. We were given a room on the 4th floor with a view of the lake (if you looked to the side from the balcony). The room was small, but for us (mother and daughter), the worst was the glass panel between the bathroom and the bedroom. The top half of our bodies was easily seen from the bedroom. I really didn't want to watch someone/anyone shower. The room was pitch black when we turned off the lights—heaven! However, because of the glass panel between the bedroom and bathroom, when the bathroom lights were on (I think they have motion sensors), the bedroom was showered with light! The clean sheets had a few dog hairs, but we could live with that. The bathrobes are shabby and could be so much better. We spoke to reception the next morning about the room (as advised by the receptionist on our arrival) to say this was not a suitable room for us, and they kindly moved us to the first floor, with a view of a building and a hill with trees. The room was larger, and thankfully, a door separated the bathroom and not glass panels (phew). Again, the blackout curtains were excellent, but there was a gap between the door and the floor, as well as a security peephole, both of which let light in from the hallway. These were annoying, so the room was not exactly pitch black. The room was above the main entrance, and it could get noisy at times. Secure parking is an additional Euro 19 per day. Breakfast was definitely not worth Euro 30/32 per day per person. The selection was basic - cheeses (a good choice), usually approx three different sliced hams, fruit (the grapefruit was delicious), and a few other offerings. The worst section was the hot food selection. The soft/hard-boiled eggs were good, but the overcooked bacon was always swimming in grease/cooking oil. The delightfully friendly waiting staff took orders for omelettes etc. Breads, croissants etc - good choice. Good fresh juices and bottles of fizz were placed strategically in the restaurant area. A coffee machine produced half-decent coffee at the touch of a button, but you could ask the waiting staff for coffee too. What would have elevated the whole breakfast experience would be if someone was monitoring the buffet...on one occasion, there were lots of little flies on the cheeses (2 boards) because the plastic covering had not been replaced. After mentioning this, the chef very kindly sorted that out and brought me fresh cheese. Other annoyances were that the tongs on the various sections could get sticky due to lack of care. Again, not a massive problem but spoiled the overall experience. The food selection is not replenished often enough, so if you are down for breakfast at 10 am (it finishes at 11 during the week and 12 during the weekend), the selection is really diminished and doesn't look attractive. The few slices of bacon left were cold and swimming in cooking oil again. The buffet food also looks unappetising once people have made their choices, e.g. a tray with a few slices of ham and maybe (if you're lucky) a few pieces of smoked salmon. I agree that wasting food should not happen, but don't Caro & Selig want guests to enjoy their breakfast experience? All this to say that many improvements could be made to make breakfast an experience guests would want to return (and pay) for. We had thought that in this 4-star hotel, breakfast would be an enjoyable and tasty experience, so we agreed to have breakfast every day. We should have waited until we tried it!! Aran, just a 5-minute walk from the hotel, offers a much better quality of breakfast, and the price is similar, depending on your choice. It also has windows that offer excellent views of the lake, and the space is bright and airy. If there are any windows in the breakfast/dining room, we didn't see them! Again, I must mention the staff :) The girl and guy in the NI Rooftop Bar were lovely...professional, helpful, fun and kind. The dining breakfast staff were excellent. The receptionists helped with the move between floors and were skilled in their approach. The location is up a hill and might not suit everyone. This was not my first visit to Tegernsee, which is a beautiful part of the world, but, sadly, it was my first and will be my last to the Caro & Selig.
