We spent one night at the Marriott hotel in Cologne during our recent family trip to Europe. This hotel is in a good location, close to the train station. The rooms were great and we had a good experience. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant and had told the staff that it was our wedding anniversary. Since this was the last leg of our trip and we had an early train to catch the next day, we did not want to venture out to a restaurant in the city. The restaurant staff was extremely nice and went above our expectations to make it a special evening for us. Food was delicious! Yes, I would recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.

“Excellent hotel, Perfect location and great staff members.”

An excellent stay here for a couple of nights and then back for 12 days again. The hotel is perfectly located a 3min walk from the main train station and the majority of sights are eqsily walkable. An excellent stay here for a couple of nights and then back for 12 days again. The hotel is perfectly located a 3min walk from the main train station and the majority of sights are eqsily walkable. Also it is possible for taxis to arrive right outside the hotel as well. A nice spacious lobby for checkin and very friendly staff at check in on my 12 day stay but not so on the first 2night stay. The room was very good, it was quite spacious with nice sized bathroom. Everything was very clean on arrival. The lounge was a good size and has two balconys over looking the city. They served a nice varied selection of food each night although i did eat out a couple of nights as the lounge never had any typical German dishes. The staff were excellent especially Maria and Marco. Especially when I atrived late one night after an incident on my way back to the hotel and the lounge food had been put away the lounge staff had a look around the kitchen and were able to put together a plate of diferent breads, cheeses and salami etc. There is a nice selection of soft drinks including German schwip schwap. The breakfast in the hotel is really very good, excellent selection and high quality. Just dont order the eggs benedict as the yolks arrive hard and on a slice of toast instead of the proper english muffin halves. The omelettes were very well done and one of the best ive had. So im a bit confused by some of the other reviews that only gave 3 or less stars as this is a great hotel. The staff overall were excellent at the hotel and were genuinely friendly and helpful. This is definitely a hotel I would stay at again and what I hope others should be like.

“Not Marriot quality”

Poor atention to details. Ine elevator was not working my whole stay. My tissue box in the room was empty. It is very hot, a bawl with water is placed over n the morning but runs out in less of an hour and never is filled again. The electronic key do not work. Not Marriot quality!

I cannot believe the experience we have had and we haven’t even got to our room yet Having emailed ahead requesting a quiet room high floor away from elevator, We arrived earlier than the 3pm check in at 12pm. We went through the procedure and I reiterated that I would like a quiet room high floor away from the elevator which she said yes and were told our room wasn’t ready to come back at 3 which we did. We went up to our room on 4 floor which was NEXT to the elevator so back down to reception we came and have now been for almost an hour after a fair bit of waiting they offered us a drink at the bar which we accepted but were offered water WHAT A JOKE so when I asked surely not we were kept waiting again then they came over and said only a soft drink!!! We then asked for a manager and again we waited. Alicia came over apologised she handled everything well and told us the only room in our catorgory of delux king was on 1st floor which isn’t ideal but better than next to lift. She said there was no free upgrade available she got us a proper drink and offered us access to the lounge as way of an apology which we gratefully accepted. So not a great start ! The room is lovely and spacious but lacking in draws the products are - It Works and are lovely bed is comfy the bath runs quickly and the shower is powerful. 2 bottles of water were supplied everyday. We use the lounge every day. Every member of staff was polite and helpful but a special mention to Maria who made each visit a pleasure.She was very friendly helpful and welcoming. The choice of food here is great for starters but not for mines with only one available to desserts, but also did cake in the afternoon, which was lovely and they are are many soft drinks on offer wine and beer too. We are very grateful to Alicia for offering this to us and have enjoyed using it very much. What was really disappointing with the sauna they were toe one was warm the second less so a sauna in my opinion should be hot. Neitherone of them are good enough temperature especially the finish one that should’ve been much hotter. We only went once and never returned for this reason. This is not a hotel I would recommend having stayed at the Kempinski Poli also a five star it was night and day different
