The INNSiDE hotel is located at walking distance from the old town (the DomHof is 800m away), parking is available for an additional cost. Two types of room are available, standard and premium, in both cases they have either a double bed or two single beds. I was with wife and kids, we booked a standard and a premium. They both were very nice, with similar furniture and bathroom, both had also free mini bar, the main difference between the two types of room is that premium has Nespresso machine and Biers in the mini bar, a yoga mat and Sauna equipment (the hotel has a fitness center). Premium should also be at upper floors with a better city view, our standard was at 3rd floor, premium 4th floor, there wasn't much difference in the view. The hotel has a Restaurant with a wonderful city view at the top, which is also used for the excellent breakfast. When we booked the hotel we did not book the breakfast, which costed 25 € each for the adults and 14 € each for the 12 years old kids. I was with my son in the standard room and I had problems in sleeping because the air conditioning was not working and it was a bit noisy to keep the window open, I mentioned the issue the morning after at the reception and since the rooms were already paid, the concierge offered to waive the breakfast cost for the room with the issue, so we all 4 had the breakfast but only my wife and daughter paid. The breakfast was superb with a lot of options and the view was really nice. The staff was very kind and everything in the hotel was very good.

The hotel is located on a connecting street between the inner and outer ring road, not far away from the historic city centre. It has its own underground parking, with direct access to the hotel, and a good number of busses stopping nearby (Bushof). The friendly reception can get busy at times, so use their offer for an online check-in and -out. The two lifts to the floors are slow, and it can take a while for them to arrive at peak hours (eg breakfast, check-out time) – it can be more convenient to walk (the building only has 5 floors in total..). The rooms are modern and have a good size (albeit a bit smaller than other Innside hotels); they sport an open wardrobe (sufficient for a short stay), a little desk with two chairs and one 24-h power plug, and a fridge with free drinks. The free WiFi works well. The bathroom open to the room, with a separate toilet and a spacious shower cabin also in the room. The beds are comfy, with two types of pillows; you can get more types at the reception if you want. The rooms can can be almost fully darkened, with some small slits at the top of the curtains; the noise from the street is bearable, but get a room facing away from the street if you want it completely quiet. Breakfast and dinner are served on the top floor, with a nice view over Aachen; a good choice is offered for breakfast.

“Expected more from Melia”

Location is close to Aachen historic city, also perfect for business nearby. Atmosphere is forced cool, loud music, not what I ecpect for a 4* business hotel. Parking garage fee is expensive at 29€ per night and the garage is very narrow for a new building. Room was fine and quiet, big nice shower … more

Location is close to Aachen historic city, also perfect for business nearby. Atmosphere is forced cool, loud music, not what I ecpect for a 4* business hotel. Parking garage fee is expensive at 29€ per night and the garage is very narrow for a new building. Room was fine and quiet, big nice shower but low water flow. Breakfast was disapointing, you feel price cuts at every item, slow coffee machine, no salmon, egg was cold.

“3 star hotel, barely”

Our destination was Aachen's excellent Christmas Market, a mere 10 minute stroll from this hotel on the ring. Staff in blue T shirts at the front desk, in the restaurants = Déclassé. The hotel is devoid of art. The sole picture in our tiny room was a portrait of a black and white chimpanzee; nothing at all would be infinitely superior. There was a yoga mat suspended from the wall but no space big enough is which to use it. Be careful in the shower which can get slippery though there is neither an slip proof plastic mat on which to stand nor is there a grab bar to avoid a fall. There was no facecloth or towel set either, just a towel each. If you want to try the rooftop restaurant for dinner, ask if it's available when booking. We didn't. The restaurant was entirely booked for a special event. Probably just as well, the chairs would be what one would expect in a school cafeteria designed for quick turnover. Evidently whoever makes breakfast doesn't eat it. When cutting pineapple the idea is to avoid the core. At least our room was properly soundproofed, our firm king sized bed allowed 2 pillows each, sleep was reasonably agreeable.
