The first thing you notice is the warmth of the welcome from the hotel owner, and this feeling of warmth and the 'personal touch' continues throughout your stay. Let's be clear, this is a small hotel operating essentially a 'bed and breakfast' service, so don't expect a bar or lounges - you don't need them because this hotel is in a paved pedestrian area, with several restaurants, bistros and bar-cafes within a few minutes, including an excellent one with good food immediately next door. The rooms are small, but extremely clean and comfortable, but be warned, if you have walking difficulties, there is no elevator - just a winding staircase. Also don't forget to keep your key with you, the hotel is not staffed past about 21.00 hrs, so you'll need your key to get into the hotel, not alone your room. Also, because of its position on the street amid bars, if you have your windows open (essential in the warm weather as there is no A/C) then expect street noise until about 23.00, and from about 05.00 when city vehicles come to empty bins etc. Overall, the friendliness of this hotel marks it out as excellent, and one to which I'd return

The location is excellent, all main public transportation centres are in walking distance,shops and lots of places to eat nearby. The hotel itself is very well maintained, super friendly and professional staff, everything was very clean and up to standard. The eating area is so cosy, the variety of breakfast choices are way better than I would have expected from a 3 star hotel, everything was fresh and tasty and lots to chose from.

This is a good hotel in a good position. We were looking for a smaller hotel near to the main Cathedral in Cologne and this is the one we chose. It is in a quiet area at night but not too far away from the bars and restaurants in the city. The rooms are basic but clean and the beds are comfortable . There is a very excellent buffet breakfast on offer with freshly cooked eggs if you want them. There was also no problem with leaving your bags in reception for a little while after check-out However, sad to say for our time there, there was one small problem. The breakfast area and the reception area are located at street level and we were on the floor directly above. There are four rooms on this floor. Due to the architecture of this hotel and neighbouring buildings our room was on the same level as an industrial kitchen belonging to either a restaurant or hotel, we could not tell which. This sadly meant that if you are allocated either room 1 or 2, from early morning to late evening, if you have the door and window open, your room fills up with the smell of fried foods. I think that these two room must be directly opposite an extractor fan. So I would recommend this hotel for its location and breakfast but if you are offered either room 1 or 2 ask for a different room.

Small cosy hotel in centre good pub next door with good food and beer. Very good breakfast, so much better than normal self service breakfast. Friendly helpful owners. No tea/coffee making facilities, or sitting space after 8pm which is a bit limiting if there is a group. We got around that by staying in the pub! Close to all the sights shops etc.
