There are a few rough edges around the metro station nearby, but nothing of concern: I felt perfectly safe day and night. The shops, bars and restaurants in the neighbourhoods nearby (especially Exarcheia) have a real local feel that you simply won't find closer to Monastiraki or Plaka. Everything is walkable, but public transport is right there when you need it. The staff set the tone from the moment I arrived - friendly, helpful, and happy to let me check in early. The lobby has a welcoming atmosphere - it even smells good, which is a nice thing to arrive back to, however trivial that seems. Up in the room, there was plenty of natural light, and although my balcony looked onto a derelict building it was still a big bonus to have outdoor space. The rooms aren't to everyone's taste with the mirrored wallpaper, but I enjoyed it. The basics were done well: a comfortable bed with good pillows, a Nespresso machine, and a modern smart TV with Netflix and YouTube. The rooms may be a bit small for two people, and lack a proper desk for any kind of working. I was visiting by myself for leisure, so they were fine for me - although some basic things like coat hooks would have been a good way to maximise space. I had to turn the fridge off because it was noisy, but other than that I had no issues with noise - though do remember to use the do not disturb sign as the housekeepers start early! The rooftop bar was relaxed and worth a visit. The adjacent pool is seasonal and had just opened during my mid-April stay, but I think you'd have to wait for the weather to get hotter before using it. For anyone wanting to stay somewhere super friendly but with a bit of character and a genuinely local neighbourhood on the doorstep (but the touristy ones not far either), this hotel delivers.

The hotel is close to a number key Athens historical sites including the National Archaeological Museum, the National History Museum, Syntagma Square and Parliament, the Acropolis, and more. These make it a great location. The hotel rooftop restaurant area is wonderful. Food (try the moussaka) and drink (try a bottle of the Syrah wine) are superb. The wait staff are very friendly and attentive. Another plus is a view of the Acropolis in the distance. The morning breakfast is varied and superb. We would have tagged the hotel as 5, except for the size of our room. It is literally the smallest hotel room we have ever had in over 30 years of travel. Putting that aside, the hotel in general and its staff in particular are very welcoming and supportive.

Overall vrry happy with this hotel. The location is good, the rooms are updated, and it was very clean. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. The reason it wasn't quite 5 stars is that the rooms are very small and whatever they use to clean or freshen the rooms had a very strong scent.… more

Overall vrry happy with this hotel. The location is good, the rooms are updated, and it was very clean. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. The reason it wasn't quite 5 stars is that the rooms are very small and whatever they use to clean or freshen the rooms had a very strong scent. Additionally, the upstairs pool deck area was lovely but the pool was very shallow.
