We recently stayed at the Royal Olympic Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Check-in was smooth, efficient and welcoming, setting the tone for the rest of our stay. Throughout the hotel, the staff were friendly, professional and always happy to help. The public areas are beautifully decorated, with lovely artwork and elegant furnishings creating a cool, calm atmosphere. There are plenty of comfortable places to sit and relax, making the hotel feel much more luxurious than simply somewhere to sleep. The pool area was a real highlight. The sun loungers were comfortable and of good quality, towels were provided, and it was reassuring to see a lifeguard on duty. We also enjoyed the pool bar, where the drinks were excellent and service was attentive. We stayed in a Panoramic Room and it was absolutely worth it. Waking up each morning to those incredible views was truly special. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed, with a very comfortable large bed and a useful sofa seating area. We particularly appreciated the separate bath and shower, quality toiletries, and the robes and slippers provided. The balcony overlooking the Temple of Zeus was fantastic, but the real showstopper was the huge panoramic window. Looking out across Athens, with the Acropolis and Parthenon to the left and the Temple of Zeus directly ahead, was simply breathtaking, both by day and illuminated at night. The only thing we felt was missing was a kettle in the room, as it would have been nice to make a tea or coffee while enjoying the view. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a wonderful way to start each day. The views alone are worth getting up for, but there was also a good selection of food, including delicious Greek yoghurt and honey. Coffee was brought to the table, and the waiters were friendly and quick to seat guests. We also ate in the rooftop restaurant on our first evening. The night-time views across Athens were stunning and the food was delicious, making for a memorable start to our holiday. Overall, the staff, facilities, location and views combined to create a fantastic stay. The hotel is perfectly positioned on the edge of the Plaka, making it ideal for exploring Athens on foot. We would thoroughly recommend the Royal Olympic Hotel and would happily stay here again.
