We arrived home today, what an amazing holiday we had!! The Anna Hotel is perfect in every way. We cannot wait to go back!

We visited the Anna Family Resort as a family of 3 adults at the end of July. On arrival we checked in at the Anna island and then was taken over to the family resort by buggy. We then had to check in again where we were given our room key. Check in was quick and smooth with our luggage being carried to our room by the wonderful staff. Our room was modern, clean and plenty big enough for the 3 of us. Bedding and towels were replaced daily and the room was cleaned by housekeeping each morning. The Palm Pool (over 16’s) was a short distance from our accommodation and we easily found sunbeds even later in the morning. Yes, the popular beds had been reserved early with towels but still plenty to go around even at 11am. We had a few nice days spent around this pool but then on day 3 a large group arrived and we found the atmosphere changed. It became bosterious, loud and hard to relax. The larger group dominated the pool area and we found ourselves along with others leaving the pool early. At one time one of the group even joined the bar man behind the pool bar making his own cocktails and taking over, the music became loud and the tone change. We didn’t feel comfortable with this particular group of people so made plans for our last few days doing things else well and not being by the palm pool. We didn’t use the family pool so we can’t comment other than people seemed to put towels on sunbeds at silly o’clock in the morning and almost all beds were taken by 8am when we walked to breakfast. Food was good, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices to suit everyone. Dinner was what you would expect from a buffet and there was always something that we would eat. From the hotel you can take a short walk to the nearby seafront which is full of life by night and we enjoyed watching some amazing sunsets drinking cocktails at the horizon bar. The old town is also a stunning place to visit and only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. All surrounding areas felt safe. Plenty of places to eat out if you wish, we enjoyed eating at the local bakeries for lunch, you’ve got to see the cakes!! By night we ate out a few times an so many little traditional taverns to choose from especially in the old town. I cannot praise highly enough how friendly and hard working all the staff are. The guys driving the buggy’s, receptionist, dining staff and housekeeping staff always smiling and saying hello, they’ve got to be some of the friendliest hotel staff we’ve met. The pool/maintenance guy (have no idea of his name) needs a special mention as he seems to work 24/7 as we saw him all times of day and night and was always rushing around to get jobs done, a real credit to the hotel. You can feel the love the staff for the hotel and this shows. While we were there we went over to Anna Island and all we can say is WOW!! We definitely will be returning by staying at the Anna Island next time as feel the Anna Family resort is just what its name suggests, perfect for families and those who like a lively atmosphere, but for those who are booking as adults and looking for the quieter holiday the Anna Island is the one to visit. Already looking to book for next year.

We recently stayed at the Anna Hotel and, overall, had a good holiday, although there were a few areas that could definitely be improved. The hotel is in a great location, with plenty nearby. The rooms were basic but adequate for what we needed, although the hotel itself felt a little run down and didn’t quite match the photos we had seen before booking. Our room also didn’t look like the one shown in the pictures online, which was disappointing. We also noticed marks on the bedding, which wasn’t a great first impression. Most days the room was cleaned to a good standard. However, on a couple of occasions it appeared that only the bedding had been changed, and on one day the bin wasn’t emptied despite it containing used toilet paper, which became quite unpleasant as toilet paper has to be disposed of in the bin rather than flushed. There was also a strong sewage smell around our room on most days, which detracted from the overall experience. On the positive side, the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked really well, keeping the room nice and cool. However, our room was located near the pool table area and it was often quite noisy late at night, which made it difficult to relax at times. The lunch menu was good, with tasty food at very reasonable prices. The pool was a good size and, when we were able to get a sunbed, we really enjoyed spending time there. The pool staff worked really hard and were very attentive, always willing to help whenever you needed anything. Most of the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Unfortunately, there were several negatives that affected our experience. Breakfast and evening meals were disappointing compared with the quality of the lunch menu. One member of staff, a lady with a high ponytail, was consistently rude. On our first morning she told me off for wearing a bikini top in the breakfast area. Nobody had informed me that this was not allowed, and there were also other guests wearing less, which made the situation feel unfair. She also argued with me when I asked for cold milk and there were very limited options for anyone who is dairy intolerant. We also witnessed her shouting at several other guests during our stay. We booked a boat trip through the hotel, following all the instructions and booking two days in advance as requested. The day before the trip, we discovered it hadn’t actually been booked, leaving two very upset children. Staff did apologise but simply said, “these things happen.” We managed to book a different boat trip for the following day, but it wasn’t the trip we had originally wanted. What was confusing was that the member of staff simply picked up the phone and booked the alternative trip there and then, which made it unclear why the original booking hadn’t been handled in the same way. The sunbed situation was also frustrating. Guests were reserving them from around 6am and often not returning until much later in the day, making it almost impossible to find somewhere to sit if you didn’t get up early. One evening we went to join the quiz but weren’t included. The host seemed more interested in flirting with two younger women than engaging with everyone who wanted to take part, so we decided not to return. We also hoped the adults-only pool would be a quieter place to relax, but loud music was being blasted there as well, which defeated the purpose. Overall, the hotel has some real positives, particularly its location, comfortable beds, effective air conditioning, lunch food, pool and the hardworking pool staff. However, improvements to maintenance, breakfast and evening meals, room location/noise issues, the management of sunbeds, and resolving the unpleasant sewage smell around the rooms would make a big difference to the overall guest experience.
