Just a sink, draining board, kettle, 2 dinner plates, 2 knives & forks, 2 glasses and 2 coffee cups! Very small fridge too - but it didn’t put us off as the accommodation was really comfortable. We loved the exposed brick walls in our accommodation but as with a lot of Greek places, the stairs in our maisonette were very steep! Loved the pool, jacuzzi and sunbeds. Food served at the bar from 1pm was delicious. Froso was very helpful and friendly. We didn’t have breakfast as it was mainly cold food. We slept that well that we didn’t wake up til near lunchtime anyway. Walked into Afitos every evening and had some fab meals. There are loads of restaurants to choose from. Do check ratings on here before you try as they are pretty accurate. We only experienced one bad place and that was without checking first so we learnt our lesson. Highly recommend this place. No need to walk along the main road as there is another quieter road opposite the accommodation that takes you in Afitos. Beautiful shops and it’s very pretty. There’s a supermarket there too where we bought bits and then jumped in a taxi home. Cost 5-6 euros. All the taxis are Mercedes and immaculately clean.

We chose to stay at Petrino Suites 5th August - 12th August 2025 and it's the best decision we made. This was our first time to Greece as a family and it will not be the last. We arrived late (which I usually hate because everything is dark and after a long day of travelling you can never be sure where you have ended up!) however, when we buzzed to reception to be let in we were greeted by the friendliest lady with a huge smile who welcomed us to Petrino. We weren't expected to complete forms or pay the hotel tax there and then instead we were taken straight to our room, along the way the breakfast room, pool and pool bar were pointed out to us. We were told the room we had booked was not ready due to a toilet leak however, it was being fixed and we would need to move on Saturday/Sunday into the room we had booked originally. The lady opened the door to the room we would stay in temporarily and she told us that she had upgraded us because our room was not ready. When my daughter opened the door to the back garden, she screamed to find we had our own pool in a beautiful garden overlooking sunflower fields, with a bench, table and sun loungers. The lady said she was happy our family was happy. The room was immaculate. The bathroom was spacious. There was very little space for clothes/shoes but we used the tables in the room and made the best of what there was. The main bedroom was on a mezzanine level which you reached by wooden, steep stairs (more like ladders!) But that was fine, we were careful. There were wooden beams on the ceiling and the walls were bare stone. Just beautiful. We spent our first morning around our own pool and had a walk into Afitos in the afternoon. This is about a 10 minute walk but in the heat and walking gently was more like 15 minutes. After reading reviews and researching the resort, I was amazed by how large the area was. Small streets leading off each other, the restaurants and shops were all built in the same stone. Just beautiful. We ate out every night and every night we had outstanding food and service. Every restaurant was buzzing with families eating and talking. Not something we are used to in the UK. Normally families are glued to their screens and there is silence. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and not once felt the need for a screen. All restaurant staff were accommodating and friendly. Don't be surprised by no dessert menus, after you have finished your main a free dessert is brought to your table to share. EVERY dessert was delicious! We were called on Saturday to let us know the room we had booked was ready. It didn't take us long to move our things into the new room. which again was immaculate and all on one level. A spacious bathroom again. Air con in the main bedroom and lounge area. Absolutely no complaints about this room, obviously it didn't have the private pool but the main pool area is beautiful and sun loungers and huge bean bags are very comfortable. We hired a car for 2 days which Petrino Suites arranged for us. We went to Thessaloniki one evening, as it's a city there are a lot of high street brand shops, these were closed when we got there but that wasn't the reason for our visit. My daughter had a children's massage at Petrino Suites on her first day, she absolutely loved it and the lady in the spa was amazing! The prices of the treatments are extremely cheap given the time/quality of the treatment. Although the 20 minutes had passed, she asked if she could continue because she hadn't finished, which was absolutely fine by me and my daughter! If we were at home they would have finished when time was up! We ended up speaking with the spa lady who suggested loads of places to visit/eat out and we ate out at the restaurant in Thessaloniki she suggested and it was amazing!!! The square in Thessaloniki is just beautiful and the walk along the harbor is the perfect place to watch the sunset. We spent our second day at the beach, sunbeds and umbrellas are sold by bars at set prices and you have to purchase food/drinks to a minimum of that value. The sunbeds and umbrellas were €30 so we had to have a minimum of €30 food/drink from the bar which I felt was more than reasonable. Halkidiki is very green and beautiful everywhere! We used the bakery and supermarket in Afitos for breakfast and lunch. You must try bougatsa, yum. The bakery in Afitos is the best place for this and goes down beautifully with a greek coffee. They are so lovely in the bakery, I miss this every morning. The self catering facilities within the apartments are very basic. There are glasses/mugs/4 plates/4 knives & forks. We read before we left that there were no bowls so we took our own camping bowls however, I have no doubt that if we had needed them and asked reception we would have been given some. The air con worked more than fine, my children got a little chilly during the night so I asked reception if they had any blankets!!!! In 30 + degree heat but anyway she made a note to let the cleaners know and when we went back to our room there were blankets on the children's beds. When she saw us the next night she checked with us that the children had got their blankets. The staff here are just the friendliest and will go above and beyond to make your holiday comfortable. We did not eat at the pool bar however, the food they brought out looked amazing and wish we had eaten at the bar! The kids enjoyed the ice creams through from the pool bar and unlike the UK they were not stingy on scoop sizes! I cannot thank Petrino Suites enough for the holiday they gave us. We were so relaxed and are still wishing we were there now! We usually go on Disney cruises/Caribbean All Inclusive holidays so this was a huge change for us and both of my children and husband said they would choose Greece (Petrino Suites in particular) over any other holiday!!!!!

Aftios in my opinion is the perfect Greek holiday town location. It is extremely busy but a nice place to visit everyday for a meal. It wasn’t full of bar crawls etc Loads of restaurants & nice boutique type shops. Perfect for families & couples. The hotel was good for price paid for 2 wks in august. All little stone buildings really unique & was a nice break from the big hotels. By far best deal I could find with a pool room in Greece in August. Breakfast wasn’t included in our booking & we thought was expensive to pay for once there. Food from the pool bar at lunch was unbelievable & restaurant quality. They serve in to evening so you can order & take to room for evening meal if fancy a night in. The main pool area & bar looked nice & modern with lots of beds. We stayed around our Plunge Pool which was small but in a very private large garden area with covered patio. Bug screens are on the patio doors but we hardly had any unwanted guests. Which was great considering location. Couple of mosi bites but I am constantly reapplying the repellent as I experience bad reactions. But that being said had no more than anywhere else in Greece. A few reviews mention Mosi’s & this had put me off this hotel for a couple of years! So just to put anyone else’s mind at rest they were totally fine during in August! Suite in general was clean & just needs a few minor updates in furniture & lights in kitchen area. It was styled inside more like a winter cabin than a tropical holiday vibe but this didn’t spoil our stay it’s only decoration after all & everyones taste is different. Stairs in the suite can be a little tricky so perhaps not best choice for young children or people with mobility issues. We loved Halkidiki & Aftios Thank you & hope to return 😊

Overall we had a really lovely time. The hotel is very pretty, especially the pool area and the gardens. We had a superior maisonette with private pool, although this was smaller and darker than I would have liked; it was still very pleasant and cleaned daily. The food provided at the pool bar was always nice, albeit more expensive than anywhere else in Afitos. We had breakfast on the first day which was delicious however very chaotic. It was a buffet style breakfast and unfortunately they had ran out of clean plates, cups, glasses, cutlery meaning we and several others were all stood around waiting for some time. I’m pleased to say we had breakfast again on the last day and it was a totally different experience. We really thought that all the complimentary extras which were provided were a really nice touch. Such as; a ten minute massage, yoga in the gardens and the open air cinema. We also enjoyed the wine tasting on offer and the newly opened sister restaurant Philema. We were provided with a voucher for a 10% discount which again was appreciated. Our only criticism would be the petting zoo which is advertised on the website. I was actually really saddened by this as it was actually just a small locked coop with some rather hen pecked looking chickens and turkeys, not the rabbits and goats that we were expecting! Our youngest was really disappointed. The mosquitoes are rife, however the hotel does try to help with this by providing indoor plug in repellents and outdoor candles. The hotel tries its best and the staff work really hard to please the guests.
