All in all very good experience. The food was very tasty, the staff pleasant. The location iss great, Mountain Olympus behind the hotel, sea in front of it.

we went to the Dion Palace Hotel in September and was greeted by the manager Izzy. She was an absolute delight and so helpful. She has certainly set a great example for her staff as all were kind, helpful and went the extra mile. Thanks to Georgia in the restaurant, Maria behind the bar, Evangelia helping with site seeing, George at the beach bar, Anthi in the jewellery shop and many more. The hotel is set in a stunning location with a private beach. The rooms are a little tired, but I understand Izzy is pushing for these to be upgraded, it would be such a shame if the powers that be refused as it has the potential to be a five star all the way. The food was very nice with a great selection, the spa was also nice. The indoor pool was at an extra cost which was a little disappointing. The whole place was really clean and well presented. Overall it was a fantastic two weeks break with some amazing people, the Greek people are so friendly and kind. There are several pools and bars before the beach with beds and chairs everywhere. Give Dion Palace a go if you want to completely relax and switch off in luxury.

There are only two things that make this hotel a 5* which are the location and the staff. In particular, Dora, George at the beachbar, Evangelina and the young daytime receptionist who couldn't do enough for you. The restaurant staff also worked very hard and always had a smile. The food was absolutely fine for a buffet with some good choices however, no sign of the al a carte restaurant. Someone said it was out by the pool but all that was there was shabby tables and a snackbar?! We had 4 days of bad weather and we wanted to make use of the indoor pool but was told it was connected to the spa (which I never saw open) and apparently it's run by an outside company and not under the control of hotel itself. I was told she opens in the afternoon on some days so I would have to book and pay for the privilege of using the pool. Who charges you to use a pool in a 5* hotel?? We had a beachfront bungalow the location of which was perfect. The housekeeping staff are fabulous but even they can't improve the worn out decor. Very noticeably tatty around the edges. It's like a 3* and someone just gave everything a lick of paint to hide the fact it all needs replacing. We had a rusty, wobbly basin tap, a loo flush that continued to run unless pressed again, the shower had mould and needed some silicone around the drain, chipped bedroom furniture, outdated tv, dreadful robes with holes, the list goes on. We didn't even have a dressing table in our room! The corridors around the hotel were dreadfully finished and with dim lighting gave a depressing vibe. The communal areas were much better, thankfully. They supplied books and games for rainy days and a games room. We had no aircon remote and were freezing the first night, issue sorted very quickly by reception and maintenance the next morning. Car hire is very reasonable and organised through Evangelina who gave us lots of area info. On our last day we asked if we could have use of a room as we didn't fly out until late evening. This was sorted for us and very kindly offered free of charge, 5* service indeed and much appreciated! There are lots of positives here, mainly thanks to the staff. It is such a shame because this hotel really could be a genuine 5* resort with the hardworking, polite staff it employs, it's food and location but as it stands now it's no more than a 3* in my opinion and experience. I hope the owners have the funds to give it the renovation it deserves. Thank you to all the staff (and the dogs and cats) who made our stay worth it.
