We have visited Antigua many times and always enjoy its history and culture. This is our second trip to Casa Santa Rosa and we very much enjoy the quality of the rooms, the staff and the location.

What a beautiful spot in an incredibly beautiful city! The rooms are truly amazing. So spacious beautiful and relaxing. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful. The breakfast is simple and sustaining. We definitely plan to come back.

We’d visited Antigua in the past on several occasions. The first time I visited was with an overland tour through the Mayan Kingdom. This time it was only the two of us. Selecting a hotel can be a perilous task; reading reviews, checking the location, and finding the right fit for your needs. After reading the reviews, some of which said it was a bit of a walk into the center, we selected this boutique hotel. Great pick! It’s not a huge town by any means, so the walk was not an issue for us, and we’re both 76. Our transport to the hotel was booked through Casa Santa Rosa. They monitor the flight and were waiting exactly where they said they’d be. Traffic is a bit of a nightmare in and around the city as you leave it, but our driver handled it perfectly. Arriving into Antigua is always fun. The streets narrow, asphalt turns to basaltic cobblestones, and things start to look colonial and charming. At the time of writing this review the street in front of the hotel is closed to most vehicular traffic. They’ve been reconstructing it. It’s a lovely, tree-lined cobblestone road. You ring to enter, and we were met by Estiben, our contact during the entire process for booking the transfer to Antigua and onwards. What an absolute pleasure to meet him. He was always ready with information about the town, including a restaurant recommendation that proved to be our favorite. I’ll review that restaurant in a future post. Our room, Azalea #2, was huge. The large window looked down the walkway to the breakfast area. Great bed, with lots of room! Breakfast is served by a lovely lady who takes your order. You select from a variety of cooked options. Coffee is provided in a carafe and hot water for tea is also available. It’s included in the price of your room. To wrap up; if you’re looking for a small hotel, this one has 9 rooms, and like quiet, clean, and friendly, this is the place for you. Hope you’re lucky enough to meet Estiben!

We spent 3 nights at the hotel, very quiet, maybe because the street was closed for traffic because of new cobble stone work being done, a good 10 miutes walk to the iglesia de la Merced, The rooms seem to be of different sizes,all facing the garden. we had a smaller room with a queen bed but another family member had a larger room (number 2) with a king size bed , all rooms have their own charme, the garden is beautiful with flowers and plants. The breakfast was included, starts at 8am what might be a bit late for people planning an early start of the day for a trip, breakfast has not much selection but the pancakes are really delicious! Staff was really friendly! Would be great to have shampoo, conditioner and body lotion dispensers in the bathroom to be more enviormental friendly instead of little pastic bottles, as a suggestion. Just stepping out of the hotel to thee left is a cafe with delicious coffee.
