“Comfortable and practical hotel in central Antigua”

The atmosphere of the hotel is excellent and we enjoyed our rooms as well as all the space to wander. The museums are enjoyable. The location is perfect, especially with the tunnel connecting the parking lot directly to the reception area meaning that there is a truly handicap acessible entrance without stairs. Noon check-out was also very nice as it gave us time for a last tour around Antigua before having to leave. The only complaint we had was that the staff in the restaurant were rather disorganized, trying to take away plates with food still on them or failing to deliver items which had been ordered (brought a cup and hot water, but not the tea etc.).

The hotel has a superb museum, with historical master pieces. However, the hotel service is below expectations. I arrived after mid night, after more than 25 hours of travelling in 3 planes, and upon arrival, I was sent to the room without any clear indication where my room was. The hotel corredors are very dark at night with no clear signages and I simply could not locate my room. Walking back and forth, after 15 minutes, a security guard indicated my room. After finally have found my room, a problem with the keys of room, but still no staff ready to come up to the room. This might sound a small question, but it part of the overall service in which, for any question you put, you feel being sent away without clear answers. Other The music in the hotel is loud during the entire day not allowing for a relaxing stay, which is what I would not have expected for a five star hotel. My room was near the swimming pool and I had to bear the loud music until 21h00....without any minute for a moment of enjoying silence. Overall, I believe the staff needs to be tought to pay attention and not just send clients away with unclear indications. The problem is not with the staff, the question is with whom gives the training.

A truly beautiful and unique property — but service that falls short of its standards. Hotel Casa Santo Domingo is undeniably stunning. The setting, architecture, and atmosphere make it a remarkable destination and a place with real character. However, what should have been a seamless experience was unfortunately impacted by a disappointing interaction with management. We were charged $49 for a third guest who did not stay overnight, did not use any amenities, and left shortly after dinner — in a taxi arranged by the hotel itself. Despite explaining this clearly, the hotel chose to apply the charge with no flexibility or consideration. In a property of this caliber, one expects not only strong policies, but also judgment, discretion, and a genuine sense of hospitality. This was lacking. This is particularly regrettable as we were evaluating the hotel as a potential venue for a company seminar. While the setting is exceptional, this experience raises concerns about how guests and partners are handled when situations require nuance. A beautiful place, without question — but service is what defines a truly great hotel.
